Taming wild animals is it right or wrong?

All animals are originally wild and all animals can be tamed. God has given us charge over all the beasts of the earth which is clearly evident in todays society. People around the world keep litrally all manner of pets. A loving home and the right space should be all thats required by anybody wishing to house a pet along with knowledge of the animal. No law and no tree hugger should ever come between a man and his bond with God's creation.

  1. Wrong. Not all animals can be tamed. They can be jailed and seem tame, but they are indeed wild. Remember the tiger killing people out in California? And God gave you nothing. God did not create anything. All life on Earth evolved. God is a creation of Man. God and Nature are NOT connected. Yes, there are laws that protect wildlife from man. And justly so. Millions of animals are killed every year, by someone that thinks they have a right, God given or other, to keep that animal. All that suffering because some human wants to play God. Your logic and reasoning are indeed flawed. I suggest you learn something of the suffering and pain animals are subject to when taken from the wild.
  2. While there is nothing wrong in keeping wild animals as a pet, you NEED to keep these facts in your mind----- they are wild animals and they CANNOT be tamed 100%.Imagine a zoologist as great as Steve Irwin got stung despite his playfulness , love and care for animals. So wild animals are wild, and you need to respect its wildness before you handle it.Most of the herpetologists get bitten by snakes because of complacency. While you dont have to fear them, you must be aware of what its capable.Always have this in mind when you try to tame one Another thing you mentioned "God has given us charge over all the beasts of the earth which is clearly evident in todays society" Well, animals like humans have a right to exist in this world. We as human beings have a role to play in their existence preventing them from extinction. So God has given us the charge only in that way and NOT to exploit them. While some exploitation becomes inevitable(for eg,whipping a horse to ride) that doesnt mean that we can think that they are here for us
  3. I think it should be right as God did give humans authority over all the animals and birds on this earth. :] x
  4. its wrong because it may harm you if you tame a lion it can eat you and when you tame domestic animals it can not even harm you it can be friendly to you
  5. There is a difference between TAMING and DOMESTICATING wild animals. I see no problem with people keeping domesticated cats and dogs in their home as pets..but wild animals should NOT be kept as pets. Nor should domesticated cats be allowed to run loose in the ecosystem as they no longer have a niche there. The bible does not state that people can destroy the balance of nature, it also does not say to rape and ravage nature..which keeping wild animals as pet does.
  6. We are all just animals and therefore on some level we are equal to each other; no one has "dominion" over the other. (People could just as easily become an animal's lunch as it could become ours) I don't think that it is necessarily bad to have a bond with "God's creation" but caging an animal in ignorance of its nature is surely a sin, whatever you believe in. This is why there is so much antagonism between pets and people, why there are so many abandoned pets, and why there are so many accidents, injuries and deaths. It takes a lot of time, patience, education, and responsible stewardship to live closely with a wild animal. I think we ought to think carefully about what is best for that animal, and not put our personal beliefs or desires above that.
  7. its a hard question, because sometimes we tame animals to help them, or simply because we are ignorant. Here is a pretty funny article about people who inadvertantly took in wild animals...but grew to regret it: http://seafoodpunch.com/?p=691
