  1. ugh, that sounds like an awful idea. i would be afraid to upset my dog's stomach switching food like that all the time.
  2. no not rele. as long as they get a balanced diet and dont have too many different kinds of food but 3 sounds fine. just keep them on the same diet plan and they should be fine hope i could help:)
  3. I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish by blending foods from different manufacturers. The main food I'd drop from your list is Old Roy. -!-
  4. Yes it is, and by the way this food you are feeding is crap. dont take it the wrong way, but this is the lowest quality food.
  5. What you are actually doing is giving your dog three of the *worst* brands out there. Skip the wal mart crap, and get something else. If you have to go for uber cheap, look into Newman's Own. Next on my list would be Kirkland brand dog food from costco or sam's club. Then blue buffalo. Next would be the premier foods: Innova, Wellness, Canidae, California Natural, etc.
  6. when we got our pup from the breeder she said not to do that because its too drastic of a change everyday and causes stomach aches.
  7. I always mix my dog food, although I use dry food as that is best for their teeth. The trick to mixing their dog food, is to keep it the same. Get a large bowl and mix all 3 types of the dog food together in the bowl, then feed it to them that way. Sometimes changing diets can cause upset stomachs, by doing it this way, they get what you want them to have, but on a consistent basis for their digestive systems. Here is an article that may be of help to you. http://www.all-about-goldens.com/feeding-dogs.html Hope this helps!
  8. Do they have a upset stomach a lot? or Diarrhea? if yes, thats the reason. They can't handle different foods all of the sudden. Thats why when you switch foods, you have to gradually change.
  9. Yes, that's very bad. when you give a dog more that one kind of food it disturbs their stomach chemicals . Almost like when you mix soup then quickly go the other way. This could lead to be very serious so take your dogs to the vet....... good luck
  10. Oh gosh. That isn't good. All 3 of those foods are low quality. Why do you feel the need to feed them 3 different foods. Try feeding them 1 high quality dog food instead of 3 poor quality dog foods. I recommend food like: Wellness Blue Buffalo California Natural Canidae Innova EVO
  11. Well all of the brands are not healthy in general and mixing them... But I'd reccomend Racheal Ray's Nutrish dry dog food The brand with the collie on the front... don't remember the brand name... sorry :( Or anything that isn't Iams, Ol'Roy, Gravy Train, Kibbles n bits, Purina stay away from foods with the first ingredient being a filler such as grains; if the first ingredient is anything other than meat(of any kind except artificial or powdered...) then don't get it! I'd also reccomend... I think it's called Blue Royal or something like that, but it's in a plain blue bag and alot of vets reccomend it :) Hope I Helped :) (foods with oatmeal inside is good for their fur :)
  12. Well, switching a dog's food around too much can mess with their digestive system, but most importantly, the types of foods that you are feeding your dogs are ALL BAD. You really need to do your homework on dog foods. Most of the foods out on the market are all junk. Look at the labels on the bags and cans, the number one ingredient on all of the stuff that you give your dogs is corn. Corn does nothing for a dog's nutrition, dogs are meat eaters by nature. Most dogs can't properly digest corn (including my dog), and will digest it too fast, resulting in diarrhea. Other fillers including rice, wheat, and flour shouldn't be fed to dogs. Also, foods with meat byproducts and bone meals should never be fed. A good site to rate dog foods is http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/
  13. Well that's not the smartest idea but what i do with me two dogs, i put a tiny amount of wet food in and nature balance and mix and they love it!I would certainly recommend staying on 1 of those with some little wet foods! They will love it!they might get sick of 1 thing then the next! You should just try to stay with one basic kind of dog food rather then 3!Just for a little flavor though add some wet food!you can get the little packets or cans! Also try to stay away from all table scraps if possible! my dog kinda got fat from that!Since it's so cold right now and you can't walk them again avoid table scraps!well i hope i really helped you!i don't usually write this much but sine i've had lots of dogs, i love giving out any advice i can!bye!
  14. Grocery store dog food is the worst you can feed your dog. It contains nothing but fillers with very little to no nutrients. Sorry to say, everything I have checked into Ol' Roy is the absolute worst. Grocery store dog food will sustain life but over time can and will cause many other health problems. Many people buy it because it is very cheap ~ because there is nothing in it but garbage! Look at the very first ingredient, or for that matter the first 4 or 5; CORN, then SOYBEAN MEAL, WHEAT, and CORN SYRUP. There is nothing about that that is good! It is preserved with BHA which is known to cause cancer in people and dogs. Ol' Roy has been recalled several times because of Salmonella poisoning, deadly and lethal not only to humans but dogs as well. Look for a new dog good - check out this site, it might help you along the way; http://www.thepetcenter.com/imtop/bestfood.html
  15. Rotating kibble is a great idea. However most people who do rotational diets tend to feed high quality foods. First kibble does NOTHING for dental health. Most dogs don't even bother to chew kibble, and for those that do it still offers no benefit as the kibble shatters, thus doing nothing for the teeth. Next, dogs are NOT born with sensitive stomachs. We make them that way by constantly feeding the same thing day and day out for their whole lives. If you ate nothing but corn for most of your life and then suddenly decided to eat a steak, what do you think your bodies reaction would be? Its not going to be happy. Your digestive system has learned to process only one food, and is going to OMGWTH!!!! when something different is introduced. Its the same concept with dogs.
  16. Don't do this! If you feed a dog more than one type of food at a time they will get sick (throw up and have other stomach problems). Stop doing this if you care for your dogs!
