Massachusetts Ballot Question 3 on dog racing?

What do you think of Ballot Question 3 that wants to end Greyhound racing in Massachusetts by 2010? Are you concerned about the effect this might have on businesses?

  1. There is nothing wrong with dog racing. Dog racing is not dog fighting. Wonderland is a cool place and watching greyhounds run over 30 mph is awesome. Dog racing is more predictable than horse racing since jockeys have a lot to say on who wins a horse race, there is no such constraint on dogs. And yes, a lot of collateral businesses will be hurt. When Boston Garden was rennovated, or the Bruins were on strike, all the bars and pizza joints in the vicinity got front page exposure and time on the six o'clock news. What about similar businesses around Wonderland?
  2. As one who has adopted a retired racing greyhound, and as one who has personally visited the kennels, I support greyhound racing in Massachusetts. 1. Massachusetts regulates greyhound racing to the Nth degree... Every aspect of the sport and the care and even the breeding of the dogs is controlled and monitored my the state police and the gaming commission. 2. It is against the law to euthanize a healthy greyhound in Massachusetts. A broken leg does NOT make the dog unhealthy. Only serious illnesses such as cancer etc where the dog is suffering can a it be put down. 3. Not only the 1000 + people employed by the tracks will lose their jobs, but the business around the track will be adversely effected as well. On top of all this, those who are advocating the ban are part of a national political action committee and are paid over 100,000.00 per year! And they are using lies and distortions to manipulate people into voting for the ban.
  3. Nope. I am pro racing.
