What is the best flea medicine for small dogs, like a chihuahua?

I have given her a flea bath with basic Pet Smart flea shampoo for small dogs, but she keeps itching. I wanted to try something else before taking her to the vet.

3. Try using Dawn dish soap it works very well and not toxic for the animal. Then take it to the vet for some flea medicine like Advantage Revolution which you put on your dog once a month.
