- could be the salt they put out to clear the snow as it can affect dogs paws. I would give him a bath and check his paws. Or maybe his paws are a bit numb from the snow?
- He's probably got salt in his paws, they are stinging and he doesn't understand why his feet are driving him mad. Keep him as calm as you can and he'll get over it.
- Did you see him 100% of the time when he went around the caretaker's house? Any chance that he got into anything that might be bothering him (on his body or eaten?) The bath is a good idea and watch him like a hawk. Call the caretaker and make sure there isn't anything out that could harm a pup, or walk down and take another look around to see if there is anything there he could have gotten into. Keep an eye on his feet , and watch that he doesn't ingest anything that might be on them. When he calms a bit try putting some bag balm on them or something like that (zinc oxide, etc.) , just make sure it is non- toxic. salt or any ice melt in tiny cuts in his pads from ice crystals can sting.
- Welcome to the joys of owning a puppy - for the next year or 2, your puppy will get "the zoomies" and race around like a maniac. This is normal behavior - puppies have a ton of energy and will need to burn it off in this way. But, it also sounds like your pup may have stepped in something that is irritating his paws. I'd be sure to check that out - and don't let him lick his paws. Whatever is irritating his paws may be poisonous. A bath may rinse off whatever he's stepped in, but it won't calm him down. IME, when dogs get bathed, it's a great excuse to rip around the house afterwards! http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/your-education-about-puppy-education to learn more about what to expect from puppies
