what do you call a dog that is cross-bred?

Like the ones you see on the streets... What do you call it? Is it pomeranian or something?

12. I can usually guess at least some of its breed mix, and will say, " "There's a shepherd mix..or a terrier type" etc.. But a street dog of unknown parentage is properly called a mutt, mongrel or, in some areas, a cur. Some are 'Canardly terriers' ( "Can hardly" tell what they are) ..

14. Is it a Pomeranian or something, a Pomeranian is a pure bred dog! It is a Cross breed, or a Hybrid but mostly a Mongrel. Some peope tend to make up names for cross breed dogs like Pomchi, Cockerpoo, Puggle e.t.c

18. We call them boonie dogs on Guam but most of the U.S. calls them mutts.
19. Here in the U.S. we call it a stray, or mutt... In Vietnam they call it lunch or dinner....

21. I prefer strays or homeless. Mutt and Mongrel almost seem to nasty for me, because I couldn't care less if my dog was purebred or a mixed breed.
22. Mutt, mix, mongrel... pick one. a Pomeranian is a purebred dog. If its on the street how could you tell if it is a pure bred?
23. A cross breed is any dog bred from two pedigrees breeds ie it is a mix of two breeds. A mongrel or mutt is a mix of more than two breeds - eg a dog bred from two crossbreeds or a pedigree and a crossbreed......AKA 'Heinz 57' A pedigree is a dog where the parents are the same breed and you have evidence in the form of papers that the grandparents etc are also the same breed. A purebred is like a pedigree but may not have papers as proof.
24. Without knowing what they look like it is hard to say. A dog that just runs on the streets is called a stray. At least where we live. A lot of times people will just dub the dog something. Like if it resembles a lab, they call it a lab mix. If it is small with short or wirey hair it may be called a terrier mix. One that is larger with upright ears may be called a shepard mix. If it has black on it's tongue it is usually called chow mix. But I would stick to "stray" if it is just running around, or possibly lost. But definately not "Pomeranian". That's a cute little fuzzy dog, well, most of them are cute!
