How to get rid of a dogs stink? Pet Groomers!?

I have a black lab 2-3 years old, and a black siberian husky/snow dog/search dog. Love them both, but they really stink :( Washed them, even using AXE. After they've dried, took them in a long ride in my SideXSide lol got back stunk like a wet dog, used body wash freshners, Air Fresheners etc... I washed them good... What else can I do?

  1. i would take them to a groomer and have them professionally groomed... the groomer should squeeze their anal gland to make sure that isn't causing it... it may be because their teeth need to be cleaned as well
  2. I work at a groomers shop...the only way to get rid of the smell is to get rid of the grime. bathing them with a good shampoo and conditioner is ideal. there are good ahampoos at petsmart and petco. try pet fresh, thats what we use. also, dont let them back outside until they are dry. it's best to blow them dry, that way their coat wont smell like wet dog afterwards....but the reason they start to stink a few days later is beacuse of the natural oils in the skin... it picks up odor in th air, and thats what you smell....there are some people that get their dogs professionally bathed once a week, but this isnt recomended bacause it will dry out their skin. my recomendation is to bathe them every 3 weeks, and inbetween then, use the dry bathing spray or powder. also there is cologne that works well too. if not, a groom shop in nc only charges $25 for lab baths and $28 for huskeys.hope this helps.......
  3. Don't use human body wash on them. You will throw off their PH. Take them to a groomers.
  4. use Quell. It's a shampoo for lice. But it helps to get rid of the stink. When you get rid of the bacteria, they will smell better. Follow the instructions on the bottle. They will smell better in around 3 washes.
  5. If they stink, it might be that they're not eating a quality food. Skin is the largest secreting organ, so when a dog eats bad foods with preservatives and toxins, it secretes a lot of those chemicals from its skin. If you feed kibble, look into a high-quality kibble like Innova Evo. An even better idea is to switch to a prey-model raw diet, which is the most species-appropriate and healthiest thing you could do for your dog.
