I have a Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix. Should those two types of dogs be mixed with each other?
He is 3 years old and a good boy with us but he is territorial. I know male Husky’s can be a little aggressive and so can German Shepherds. They both have strong wills, to strong I think sometimes. It's not like he was socialized when he was a puppy he was. It's just now he's a little different. So I was wondering if he is the way he is because of the breed, he is? Or is it because he was weaned two weeks to soon? Thank you

- He is a mutt. So, it is hard to tell what characteristics he has gotten from which breed he is mixed with. Personally a Shepherd/Husky Mix is a dream dog, for me. I love both breeds and when they come together, they make (for the most part) a loyal, energetic, beautiful mutt of a dog. I am a little unsure of your question, however.
- It has a LOT more to do with training and socialization than anything else. For what it's worth... huskies are rarely territorial... hence why they roam.
- Being that your dog is now 3 yrs old and has been socialized his behavior has nothing to do with being weaned two weeks to soon. What is your dog doing that makes you say he is a little different? Your dog is an adult dog now so some things may be different.
- my malamute is part shephard as well (like 1/16th but it counts) and he does have some shephard traits. mine is very hardheaded and stubborn and very protective but also very smart which I think comes from both breeds. Is he neutered? Sometimes that makes a difference in territorial issues as well. I personally think it all depends on the dogs personally. I have a pit bull/golden retreiver mix who looks like a pit with a goldens muzzle and acts like a golden, very friendly and affectionate but has other animal issues like a pit bull. It could be how he was raised, or even not being with mom long enough. If his main "person" is a female he could be more dominant as husky's tend to have b*tch and sire pairs dominant pair with the rest being just a pack, so maybe he thinks he is dominant male of the house.
