- little bity ones
- poorly bred dogs. . . just go to your local shelter and tell them you are looking for a tiny dog. They will show you one that really needs a home.
- Anything "teacup" is probably a dog that is poorly bred, and will have health problems. ADD: GingerGirl - How do you have "regular size" teacups?
- You can get "teacup" Chihuahuas. We have two - regular size - and they are wonderful.
- Yorkies, poodles, chihuahuas, and snauzers (I know I spelled it wrong lol)
- Any irresponsible breeder/seller can call anything they want a "teacup". It is not a term that is recognized by any reputable registry, and therefore no standard exists. Please look at the toy breed dogs on the AKC web site if you want a small dog. Do not buy from pet stores or BYBs, or anyone willing to sell you a "teacup" (unless it's a china shop). Add: Rachel - great link - thanks!
- Most toy breeds stay quite small. Teacups, unfortunately, are nothing more than a marketing ploy to make too-fragile runts more desirable. Teacup dogs tend to have serious health issues and are known to be nothing more than walking vet bills. Read this...It will explain in depth the problem with teacup dogs. http://www.chiwantone.com/documents/teacupwarning.pdf EDIT: No problem. Use it with other questions like this. It's a great readable outline of the problems with these dogs.
- Your hand is considered the saucer, "teacup dogs" are ones that can fit in your hand like a teacup in a saucer. They are undersized breed of dog that aren't the best to have as a pet - they lack the health to be worth getting because they usually die from organ failure.
- Teacup dogs can be any dog. A teacup dog is a breed of dog that is undersized. It is a product of one runt from a litter, bred to a runt from another litter. So all the puppies born are unhealthy and weak dogs. I suggest you look on petfinder.com. Or, look in the animal shelter. Ask if there are any dogs available within a certain weight range and they may have exactly what you are looking for. But do NOT buy from someone selling a 'teacup' dog. They are irresponsible breeders breeding sick dogs for the purpose of money.
- Teacup dogs are fancy names given by irresponsible BYB's for their runty small, poorly bred dogs Dogs classified as teacup or princess are Yorkies Chihuahuas Shih-tzus and any other toy breed
- Yorkies..chihuahuas sometimes bark over the top...
- there are plenty of teacup dogs but they have been poorly bred. you should just go to an animal shelter and adopt a small dog. the ones in the shelters are just fine and they need a loving home they're just sitting in the cages waiting for someone who wants one of them and if no one adopts it then he gets put to sleep never knowing what a loving home is. SO PLEASE SAVE A LIFE AND ADOPT YOUR NEXT FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Generally you will pay a fortune for a tiny dog because they are exceptionally hard to breed the mother many times dies in giving birth. There are many small breeds just be careful really small breads can have health issues.
- none there is no such thing as a teacup dog. They ae runts pure and simple. The also come with a pile of vet bills because they are so small. BYB came up with the term teacup to pass off their runts. They make major $$$ form sickly dogs and have no remorse.
- If I were to say that I breed "huge" beagles, it would mean the same thing as if I were to say that I breed "teacup" beagles. It would mean that I breed beagles that do not meet the breed standard.
- The smallest dog recorded in the guiness book of records is a Yorkie. I breed Yorkies and the term "Teacup" is not recognisd by any Kennel Union or breeders club.Another term used is "Miniture" - this term is also not recognised. All dog breeds smaller then 3 kg are considered as small From time to time I have.bred pups that do fit into a teacup - but I usually keep them with the dam so that I am sure of the condition of the pup and he will grow into a healthy adult. I have several small b*tches under 1.2 kg, and the male I breed with weighs 1.3 kg. BUT most of the time the puppies born weigh in at about 0.65 kg, while the very small ones could weigh as little as 0.48 kg. This will give you small dogs. These dogs are not "Runts". They are well bred. But if you are going for a very small puppy, it could be the runt of the litter. Some unscrouplous breeders deliberatly starve the puppies so as to have small puppies to sell at a good profit. Small dogs usually do not reach the same age as the larger dogs do. You will need to establish the birth weight of the puppy, and have a discussion with the breeders vet. He will know the reputation of the breeder. If the breeder is not a member of a registered Kennel Ubion, do not buy from him. The dogs also must be registered. For pitys sake - do not buy from pet shops. Buy your puppy from a breeder with a good reputation. You will also need to see the Dam and sire yourself.
- My Maltease is small. She weighs 9lbs. full grown. Maltease will weight 6-10 lbs. Maybe you should consider this size instead of a tea-cup. I know of someone who had a tea-cup..she accidentally stepped on it and killed it. :-(
- There is no such thing. What happens is the dogs stay so small that their organs don't grow to their fullest and they can develope many health issues.
