Do you know any types of medium sized dogs?

So I told my parents I wanted a small dog, but they won't let me get a small dog. They want a medium dog. Any medium dog breeds?

  3. golden retriever, chocolate lab, german shepard, beagle, is small to medium
  4. Some types of terriers tend to be medium sized and they are very good dogs. Cuddly, yet fun and love to play as well. Also, shiba inu is a great breed, but they tend to shed whereas the terriers don't as much. Poodles are also different sizes.
  5. yes there is a lab and jack russel terrer, bulldog
  6. There are many breeds but in my opinion the best are 1)Manchester Terrier : Manchester Terriers are considered by most to be the oldest of all identifiable terrier breeds, finding mention in works dating from as early as the 16th century. In 1570 Dr. Caius (Encyclopedia of Dogs) gives mention to the 'Black and Tan Terrier,' though he referred to a rougher coated, shorter legged dog than we are now accustomed to. By the early 1800s a closer facsimile to the current Manchester Terrier had evolved. In The Dog in Health and Disease by J. A. Walsh a full chapter was devoted to the Black and Tan, for the first time recognizing it as an established breed. The description Walsh set forth might, in fact, serve well today: Smooth haired, long tapering nose, narrow flat skull, eyes small and bright, chest rather deep than wide, only true color Black and Tan. 2)Beagle : The Beagle is a breed of medium-sized dog. A member of the Hound Group, it is similar in appearance to the Foxhound but smaller, with shorter legs and longer, softer ears. Beagles are scent hounds, developed primarily for tracking hare, rabbit, and other game. They have a keen sense of smell and tracking instinct that sees them employed as detection dogs for prohibited agricultural imports and foodstuffs in quarantine around the world. They are popular as pets because of their size, even temper, and lack of inherited health problems. These characteristics also make them the dog of choice for animal testing

  10. Check out your local animal shelter. There you will get an idea of what size you want...and you may even fall in love with a lovable homeless dog. Also check out http://petfinder.com I used this link to find two of my dogs. PS--My German Shepherd Dog pup is 4.5 months old and weighs 40 pounds. Her mom was a 90-pounder...definitely NOT a "medium-sized" dog. This breed has a wide range of sizes and colors. I'd call the GSD more a medium-to-large breed.
  11. A really smart breed is the Terrier group. Especially the Wheaton terrier group. They are really great. Also Shelties, Collies, Australian Sheperds, boxers, shibas and there is alot more than ehat I thought of. Just google "medium sized dogs". Hope I helped!!
  12. West Highland Terrier, a very cute good natured white dog, could be either a small medium dog, or a big small dog, so would make all of you happy ;)
  13. Cocker Spaniel. They are willing dogs, easy to train in obedience classes, love to work or have fun, great family dog, they are also great swimmers. One thing though, they love smelly water / mud
