  1. Boxers a great dogs. My oldest brother got one when I was 4. I had a younger sister who was just over 1 at the time and two older brothers. They are awsome family dogs and do well with kids. They are dogs that dont fully grow up until they are about 3 years, so expect alot of puppy for a looooong time. They do well with other animals, but remember to socialize them like crazy early on. Our boxer lived 8 of her 10 years as an only dog. I got a little Westie when she was 8 and our Boxer put up with a ton of abuse from the Westie. She did well with all of our cats and even did well with the horses (after she got kicked by them once). They are very smart dogs and I actualy trained mine to do simple agility courses. They are great gaurd dogs and are very vigilant. Ours made rounds on everyone at night, if we left our doors closed she would freak, and if we were not in bed she would wake my parents up to let them know. When one of us got sick she would sleep with us. Something to be aware of is that these dogs are tumor proned, so any lump needs to be checked out right away. Ours had to be put down because of a tumor in her mouth. They are very in touch with your emotions and she seemed to know when it was her time to go and she was the one trying to comfort us. The night before we put her down we all just sat in the living room and cried. I don't know who did this, but someone took pictures and you could just see it in our dogs eyes that she knew. You have a great dog (though I am partial to this breed) and it seems like she has a great backround. Goodluck with your new dog!
