Boxer puppies...How to tell if they are full-blooded puppies. What to look for.?

There is a lady giving away Boxer puppies. They are to be full-blooded and she give them away for free. (Prob. to good to be true ) what should I look for. To let me know they the real thing. Not reg. and they don't have papers. This girl I know said both mother and father are full-blood Boxers.

  1. you would ask to see the parents, ask y she giving them away. and do your research on boxers an when you go see the parents you will know what to look for.
  2. well there is a chance that they may not be full-blood because that is odd that they are free. But then again maybe she just wants to get rid of them because it happened by accident. If you looked at the parents then you would be able to tell if they were full-blood boxers.
  3. If they are full blooded I just don't see giving them away for free. I have two boxers and neither are full blooded but they look like they are except there face isn't as small as a boxers it's big and round. that's the only difference that I can see in mine.
  4. You can't be sure if there are no papers. Why would she be giving away pure bred boxers? It does sound to good to be true. If you do get one, ask about shots, deworming, etc. If she hasn't done anything, take your pup to the vet asap. Good luck.
  5. I can't even answer this question. You know better. You said so yourself. "Prob. to good to be true". You will probably end up with a sickly, mix breed dog that will rack up the vet bills. Save the vet bill money and get a dog from a reputable breeder.
  6. nope this is why AKC and other KC is so strict on their demands, its the only way to make sure the dogs are purebreed they may or they may not, without papers there is no way to prove it, if you are just geting a pet anyway what do it mather, likely a mistace breeding and she just wants to get rid of them, at least she is honest enough to not charge anything for them
  7. Its possible for them to be free. I got a fullblooded rottweiler a few years ago from someone who paid lots of money for the mom and dad. So you never know, and who cares if they look like boxers and they are healthy get the free dog. The owners might just not want to deal with trying to sell them.
  8. ask questions it sounds to good to be true so they need to give you prove they are full bloods there are not realy much ways of spoting unless they might not look like they are full boxers like diferent shape faces and diferent structures
  9. Why would you care?? Full blooded or not,you could not show them without AKC registrations of both sire and dam. If you want one of the pups and are prepared to care for it - get one. What matters is having a loving companion, not a free bargain. People seem to think "pure blood", "full blooded", etc. is some sort of magic guaranty that you will have a perfect show dog - or worse, a money making machine to breed and sell more dogs. Unless you are absolutely needing to have a dog from a particular championship line, what the heck does it matter?
  10. No papers, no proof of anything. If you don't know the standard of the breed and what to look for, you won't know. Say the Dam is purebred, and the Sire "looks" like a purebreed, but is actually Boxer/Am. Staff mixed, there is a pretty good chance that the pups could be passed off as purebreds. If you want a pet, papers don't mean anything anyway. I'm suprised, however that the pups would be free. You would think they would at least want to recoup the costs of vet checks, shots, worming, and the like, unless nothing was done. Just another wonderful example of your typical. BYB.
