Cross Breeds

relocating to fort lewis?

Has anyone had any experience relocating large animals cross country. Cars...furniture..clothes...dishes..those can all be replaced. I have two horses, a large dog, and a cat and I just wanted to put my feelers out. I would only be relocating for a little over a year cause he only has 15 months left so I even wonder if it would be worth the stress to my horses to lugg the them whole way out there. That and Fort Lewis doesn't have any boarding facilites..which is simply...crazy.....so I would have to find boarding....would it be worth it. Just looking for opinions. I'm so glad you guys responded..cause I was just flabbergasted when Will told me there was not boarding at Lewis..haha turns out it was just me and I was totally and completely wrong. Someone else suggested that I look into leasing them which is probably an even better idea...I just hate burdoning people I love with my stuff.ya know. THANKS GIRLS!!

1. Is there a friend our relative you can ask to keep them for you or board your horses at? If you are only going to gone for a year then it isn't worth taking your horses. the cost of moving them and the stress of being in a new place and being in a trailer for the time it takes to get them to where you are going isn't worth all that trouble but then some will say it is I still miss my horse chance that i decided to sell and i regret selling him logically it isn't worth moving them but in the end it is up to you.
2. yea alot of the bases dont have boarding for the horses.. also moving them will come out of your own pocket and everything. I would see if someone can take care of the horses till you move back there... because since its just a lil over a year, i wouldnt recomment moving them....
