why do people claim dogs and cats are so fragile?

I have 1 dog and 2 cats. I live in bullitt county kentucky in a semi rual area. I keep them all outside. I feed the dog but I have never fed the cats. rain shine or snow the hang out in the yard. they were spade and nutered when i got them. I have never taken them to the vet and I have gave my dog a chocolate bar several times. they are all happy and dont leave me. I guess the cats eat mice or rabbits I really dont know or care. animals are tough you dont need to baby them. they are not strays I have had the dog for 4 years and the cats for 2 years. along time for a stray to stick around. If they were not happy they would leave. I dont have the money to take them to the vet and Im not gettin rid of them. you all dont understand what im telling you. Dogs and cats can take the elements at least mine do. and im not letting an animal in my house thats dirty

  1. if you dont feed them dont claim them that just means they are stray and are sticking around until something better comes along when you get a pet that means ou let them in and feed them that is cruel
  2. What is wrong with you??? Why do you have pets anyways if you don't want to care for them properly? Pets, both dogs and cats and anything else, needs love and attention and regular vet visits and not chocolate bars. The animals probably aren't happy, just stuck w/ you, poor things. Someone needs to call animal control on you, for you are abusing those animals.
  3. some breeds off dogs are fragile, such as the 2-5 pound dogs, Italian Grey hounds because of their thin legs. Domestic animals (pets cats & dogs) were made to be domestic and do not have the skills to survive being let on thier own. They need to go to the vets and get vaccinated so they don't spread anything on your property or even on your neighbors property, such as parvo and pets live longer by going to the vets. IMHO
  4. That is not fair. They are creatures that CAN'T "speak", and CAN'T "ask" for what they need. These are NOT wolves! These are the now times "Domesticated" dogs that depend on humans for their needs......food, water, love, attention, health, immunizations, sickness, hurt, pain, ticks/flea problems, hunger, more, more, more. Immunizations are very important for parvo, rabies, worms!! Chocolate is poison for them. If you don't care..............maybe someone nearby or around you will care enough to "love them properly". They have more feelings than you can possibly imagine. Strays? Sorry they found you. Most of us are saddened by this lack of "care" and non-interest you state. Obviously, this is all they know.
  5. There are certain breeds of dogs and cats that are fragile. Like a hairless cat you couldn't leave it outside because it would freeze or get sunburned. I have a Maltese and they cannot be left outside bc they cannot handle the cold, and because of her size she would be easy prey for predators. There's nothing wrong with having outside dogs and cats as long as they have proper places to sleep. Please feed them all,and please stop feeding your dogs chocolate that can cause renal failure. Try to take your pets to the vet at least once a year for a checkup it's not that expensive,in your area I know I live in Ky as well.
  6. So you are admitting to having loyal pets, that you are neglecting ? Hmmmmm
  7. Everyone is different - whether you live in the country or city or suburb. Folks will dress their pets, take them to a groomer, allow them to eat from the same table as their humans, folks are content using them for hunting, security, search and rescue, etc... Who did you learn to care for your pets from? I learned thru books, friends, relatives, trainers, Obedience classes, 28 years of experience, etc...
  8. You're ignorant and uncaring. If you have animals,it's your duty to provide them with food, water and shelter, and vet care if they need it. I suppose your animals have no shelter, either, and I suppose the dog isn't on heartworm preventative. How can you say you don't care when the animals are obviously loyal to you? You could at least feed the cats once a day and provide shelter. Oh,and I guess you don't care about the cats' impact on local wildlife, either. Domestic cats that are allowed to roam kill millions of songbirds every year. They will also get parasites from eating mice, birds and rabbits, and I don't suppose you will take them to the vet to be wormed should they get ill from a bad case of whipworms or hookworms. Maybe you should live out in the yard and eat what you can catch.See how you like it. And don't dare go to a doctor if you should get sick, seeing as you act like you're so "tough."
  9. I understand wat ur saying it's a matter of opinion tho u should at least feed the cats in case there are times they don't get a chance to catch a mouse or watewver to eat so they live and if u have never taken them to a vet they could get rabies and/or get sick like u when u get sick u go to the doctor same as the animals they look to u to care for them. I'm not saying their not happy cuz my mom and dad have 2 cats that go outside and they catch mice and such but my mom and dad at least feed them as well to make sure they have a full belly.
  10. because most normal caring people care about their pets
