How do you all feel about mixed breeds with a big price tag? do you love them or hate them?

it was just a turn of phrase I didn't mean it as, do you hate the dog.

1. Don't hate the breed (or mixed breed). Hate the deed (the people who created them).
2. I hate the breeders who are breeding them. I cant hate the dogs.. its not their fault they were brought into this world.

4. I don't hate the dogs.. I don't like the people who purposely breed mutts and pretend that they are something they aren't. Charging way too much money for the same dogs that are in shelters.
5. I love all dogs but why would their be a price tag on a mixed dog of any breed???? The reason a shelter charges for mixed as well as pure bred dogs is for costs associated with the animals..Who in their right mind would pay any amount of money for a dog who is not cared for? I mean worming shots spaying and such...Unless of course a breeder has done this and you have access to the vet records and have called their vet to qualify this....I would then give them the $30 dollars it cost.
6. Not the fault of the dogs themselves, but their breeders and the naive people who buy them are a waste of oxygen.

8. I hate that people are willing to keep puppy mills in$$ for an animal that could be adopted at the shelter.It is sad, mix breeds are great pets, but so many die every year.........
9. I think it shows how stupid the general American public is. It puts vets in an awkward position because people think these are real breeds, and get offended with us when we list them as poodle mixes instead of the "cutesy" name. Our software doesn't support made up names. And then when we tell them that their breeder has no clue when it comes to health care... We have to un-educate people about statements like "its normal for a dog to have fleas"... or "your dog should have at least one heat cycle to protect it from cancer"......ugh. And don't even get me started about telling people they overpaid for a flea ridden, wormy, unsocialized and unhealthy mutt.
10. I dislike the greedy people who are taking advantage of the individuals who don't know better.
11. Don't hate the dogs. Hate the people who think they are creating 'designer dogs'. Doesn't matter what you call it, if it's not a pure breed, it's a mutt.
12. Lizzy - Unfortunately, it is not only in America. We have it here in Europe as well! I was online looking tonight and some breeders are charging $600 for a mixed breed dog. Anyway, to answer the original question. It makes me sad. I love "mutts". All my dogs have been mixed breeds since my first one when I was baby. "Mutts" are so unique and loving. And it makes me sad that some people are making money off of them while plenty of mixed breeds are already rotting away at shelters waiting for loving homes! Why bring more into the world? We have enough of them! And the nerve to classify them under stupid little names that will never be recognized as a real breed infuriates me. This is just a slap in the face to every homeless and hungry dog out there. It is just so sad.
13. i think it should cost less for a mixed breed than a pure bred if you are loooking a a mixed breed and considering it cause its succcchhhhhhhh a cute mix just ask the breeder what he/she is a mix of im sure you could find the same mix for alot cheeper
14. I think it is great! It keeps people with poor decision making skills from wasting their money on other things.
