Cross Breeds

DO people raise certain types of cross-breeds?

For example, a 3/4 Boxer and 1/4 Rott cross? I s'pose there wouldn't be much money to be made in that though, would there? People want purebreds so they can show them and have higher vet bills... oh, well.....

  1. People raise all kinds of dogs from pure breeds to mixes. Having a pure bred dogs is not more expensive than a mixed breed dog. The only extra expense is if you show your dog then there are all kinds of costs involved. If you have a pure bred dog that is your pet then the cost of these dogs is the same as a mixed bred dog.
  2. ONLY ignorant, irresponsible GREEDY ***CROOKS*** make MUTT/MONGRELS on purpose,,just to peddle to the gullible MORONS!!! You don''t know WTF you're talking about,do you? MUTT/MONGRELS are NOT "healthier" or "smarter" or "better" than purebred animals!!! Those are ***LIES*** spread by the above CROOKS who have a SHI*-PILE of CRAP to peddle!! You can't figure out "SALES-PITCH" when you hear it?
  3. "Designer" breeds, like puggles(pug/beagle) and labradoodles(lab/poodle) make tons of money.
  4. yes, people do raise certain types of cross breeds. I know especially in the small dogs. Examples would be shitzu-bichon, maltepoo. I raise Lhasa- shitzon (Lhasa apso and shitzu bichonX) I get the same amount of money for the pups as those raising unregistered shitzu purebreds. Larger dogs are harder to get good money for however. Go to your local spca and just see how many large dogs are there... hardly ever do they get a small breed dog in comparison. People tend to buy large dogs when they are puppies (ALL babies are cute) and then let them go when they are too large for them to deal with or the home/yard they have. They don't seem to bond as thouroughly as they do with small dogs, which is why i chose to breed the smaller Xbreeds. There are several other small cross breeds coming up that will eventually become their own breed like the shitzon has. Like puggles to name only one
  5. Yes there are people out there who breed crossbreds and I myself only have pure bred dogs and yes I show them but from my own research with purebred you know exactly what you get and should expect in regards to health problems etc but with crossbred you may not get any but on the otherhand you can get all the problems from all the breeds used in that crossbred, eg my friend bought a labradoodle as she was told it was an anti alergy dog... wrong she ended up with an over excitable dog that she was allergic to and that had a skin problem of its own among many other problems. Un fortunatly these people do make money off breeding these dogs but often do not care for the welfare of the dogs being bred nor for those who purchase the puppies and end up with endless problems and vet bills, If your looking for a puppy go to a purebred registered breeder first or to your local pound where there are alot of those so called designer dogs just waiting to find a loving home at a cheap price
  6. People raise cross breeds aka designer dogs purely for profit because people are too lazy or ignorant to research and they believe the lies told. They sell these mixes for hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars, so yes there is much money to be made on cross breeds also called mutts. These dogs also end up with just as many health problems if not more than pure bred dogs because cross breeds are usually bred from inferior animals that have health problems to begin with. People want pure bred dogs because they want to know what they are getting and yes some show them. As for owners of purebred dogs having to spend more money on vet bills, that is completely false. If time and research is spent on the breed of choice and the dog is purchased from a reputable breeder your chances of having a sick animal are very small. Usually people who have sick animals have them because they bought from a byb, puppymills or petstores, these places do not do any kind of health testing to ensure the animals they sell are healthy and free of genetic problems.
