what is the name of the movie with a huge snow castle where a big snowball fight takes place and a dog dies?

The movie came out I think sometime in the mid 80's. The snow castle collapses in the end burrying a dog that was one of the kids pets. I have looked all over the internet to find out the name of this movie to no avail. If anyone out there knows what movie I am talking about, please let me know.
