Has anyone else heard about this?

I recently got a email saying that congress is trying to pass the Bill O'Riely law. Since he is the self-appointed guardian of this countries children, The law is named after him. This law would label ANY online pic of a person under 18 as child porn. It would not matter if they are a 7yo girl in a swimsuit laying at the beach, or a 17 yo boy in a parka in a dog-sled race. This law is suppose to protect this countries children from online perverts. Are we suppose to stop posting family pics? If this law passes, you could go to prison for sending a pic of your new baby to your parents. Has anyone else heard about this?

  1. no. but it sure seems like it fits right in with the direction this nation is headed.
  2. I haven't heard of this, but I doubt they mean all pictures. I do see your concern though, what about those naked baby pictures?
  3. Yes I have but not sure were!?! I do believe we need something out here to protect our kids on the internet. I think you are going over board a little bit there with we can't email a pic of the grandbaby to grandma and pa.
  4. That is very strange since O'Reilly pleaded no contest to sexuall harrassment. There are tapes of him making obscene phone calls to a female who worked for him.
  5. The bill restricts employers of child models and any display involving "interstate or foreign commerce...with the intent to make a financial gain". http://www.politechbot.com/docs/foley.child.exploitation.bill.050902.pdf (It's always better to read the bills themselves, rather than hysterical interpretations of them.)
  6. haha they have a very loose definition of child porn..... crazy congress
  7. "This law would label ANY online pic of a person under 18 as child porn." No it wouldn't. The Bill seeks to ban what it describes as "exploitive child modelling", which it defines basically as selling images of children for no other purpose than promoting the childs picture itself. So you can use the image of a little girl in a swim suit to advertise little girls swimsuits, but not just to sell pictures of little girls in swimsuits. Try googling the term "teen model" and take a look at some of the - currently perfectly legal - sites that are returned. Richard
