Cross Breeds

What type of dog breeds should I cross?

I would like to cross an English Beagle with a Japanese dog breed. Which Japanese dog breed should I mix with the Beagle in order to create a new breed of Europe and Asia combined?

  1. Unless you are highly experienced DON'T cross breed. Leave it to the experts xxx
  2. Bulldog and shiatsu.
  3. How about a mastiff/Pomeranian instead
  4. You shouldn't mix any dog breeds. Or breed at all.
  5. UGH!!! Save it and take up knitting. It's safer and easier! Thanks for the easy points!
  6. Well there are plenty of options out there, you could cross a labrador w/ a poodle and get yourself a Labradoodle, or you can cross a bulldog with a shiztsu and get a Bullshizt, but on a more serious note it depends on what your breeding for, asian and europian dog breeds vary in size and uses. If your breeding 4 fun i suggest you spend considerable time reasearchin this and dont just listen too anybody. I could list dogs all day long but beagles are a very specific dog designed for hunting, and past that their effectivley blind, so be careful when choosing a dog to breed with because it could have adverse affects on the DNA of the animal, good luck
  7. either way your new breed will be a mutt. Not necessarily a bad thing but a fact. Designer dogs for example are mutts.
  8. You shouldn't. Cross breeding is just a fancy term for creating mutts. There are plenty out there right now and those of us who work through rescue do not need to be dealing with your little hobby. If you want to breed, you need to breed recognized breeds for a standard of perfection. Which means they need to be ideal in form, temperment and perfect in health--vet checked certified at 2 years old perfect, not owner says so perfect. This goes for the b*tch and the stud. Do not try to be cutsy (blending europe and asia) and create your own breed. It's selfish, spoiled, abusive behavior that many, many people have tried and many dogs have been killed over it.
  9. DO YOU THINK BY CROSS-BREEDING YOU ARE MAKING A NEW BREED? WELL GUESS WHAT YOU ARE MAKING MUTTS, CURS,MONGRELS. MY GOD PPL THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF DOGS PUT TO DEATH EVERY YEAR BECAUSE OF CARELESS CROSS-BREEDING. BACK YARD BREEDER IS ALL YOU ARE YOU DAM PEOPLE PUT THE REAL HONEST BREEDERS TO SHAME AND RUN US INTO GROUND WITH ALL OF YOUR MUTT BREEDING.
  10. Why would anybody do such a stupid thing? Do you know the pro and cons of each dog breed, their health problems and do you check for those? The mind boggles.
  11. OK first of all please don't do it! Do you know how many homeless dogs are out there because people start breeding & breeding and there is not enough people to care for all the unwanted dogs. Most get put down in shealters & never get to live a happy life. I do not understand why people do not know how inportant it is to control the pet population & Spay or Neuter their pets. I understand there will always be breeders out there but trying to create yet another dog species is not a good idea. I hope you really think about this before putting 2 dogs together to mate. Remember dogs live 10 to 15 years so your adorable mix breed puppies will soon grow & someone will decide they can't handle it & let it on the street or give it to the pound & now we have yet another dog that needs a good home. If you want a puppy please look around and I garentee that u will find a dog of what ever mix you want somewhere. Adopt it & be happy but please don't breed... SPCA does low cost Spays & Neuters. Look into it!
  12. That's just what you need another mutt running around. If you even have to ask that question, don't breed any dog, any breeds. Unwanted dogs are serious business. Don't be a fool.
  13. I remember at a show , seeing a japanese dog that was smaller than a whippet, but had those kind of characteristic and unfortunately cannot remember the name of it. It was a pure bred and would probably be the right size to cross with the English Beagle
  14. Hmmm...why? Have you done any research on breeding? Do you have a purpose for wanting to do this other than to make money? Do you know expensive breeding is to do right? Do you realize that the majority of dogs in shelters today are from insanity just as this? That people decide it would be "fun" to breed- then get in WAY over their heads- come on YA and ask stupid questions because they don't know how to tell when their dog is in labor- they decide to go to bed and leave the b_tch under a bush outside to have her babies- the puppies die- Mum crushes some- they get covered with fleas and fire ants- then the moron wants to know how they can get rid of their paperless mutts- because they had 12 people who REALLY wanted one, but when it was all said and done, they all backed out- and the asker is going on vacation and doesn't have time to deal with the pups! Ignorance such as this is the reason that we have the overpopulation problem we currently have in America. Do the noble/brave thing and DON'T add to the problem!
  15. Dont..
  16. http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/breeding.html NO responsible breeder will purposely mix breeds. Many people don't realize how expensive and time consuming it is to breed. Breeders do NOT make any money. All breeds must have a series of health tests after they are 2 years old to determine if they are healthy enough to breed. If you don't have this done, do not breed. PLEASE. I bought a cute healthy dog, from cute healthy parents, and she only lived for a year before having MAJOR genetic health problems. It was very sad, and I truly wish that NO ONE goes through the same thing I did. Both of her parents are still alive and "healthy" according to the breeder-- but they can still pass on genetic problems regardless. At only one year old, she became totally paralyzed in her hind legs, and could not control her bladder pr bowels. It was so sudden, and so unexpected. She has hip dyspasia, knee problems, and neurological problems. I am very angry with her breeder, and I'm sure you don't want to be sued for selling bad pups.
