Do I need some sort of permit or such for rescuing stray cats off of the street for my snow sledding team?

I know that most people use dogs for sledding races such as the Iditarod, but I was wondering if it's illegal in most places to sneak a few stray cats off of the street to use in place of dogs for my sledding team. The only dog I would plan to have on my team is a Havanese I could borrow from the neighbor girl; every sledding team needs a good leader. The dog could be in charge of all of the cats, but will I get in trouble if someone sees me taking cats off the street? There always is a chance that the cat does in fact belong to someone; so, wouldn't people be concerned about someone who is taking stray cats and maybe accidentally their house cat? ...perhaps concerned enough to create a law against it? I would like the general laws regarding snatching cats off of the street because I want to have cats from various places so as to have a culturally diverse sled racing team.

  1. I do hope you are joking. And anyway, cats can't be led by anyone but themselves, much less a dog!
  2. You have way too much time on your hand, plus cats will not work, have'nt you heard that "dogs have masters and cats have servants".
  3. for some reason i feel somewhere you may be the bit serious, otherwise you have a creative imagination. none the less i don't think your plan would work as to cat's in the snow. plus the weight factor of you verses the cat's. the dog would have to be seriously socialized w/ his teamates, or there wouldn't be a team. as to your law i do believe that is theft w/ a punishable crime.
  4. Wow
  5. No but I would recommend a good pair of thick leather gloves - it is difficult to put them in their harnesses. Been there, done that.
