Who is the "Father of the Iditarod" and why is he called that??

i have to do a reasearch project over the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska... and i can t find all of what i nee don the internet... so can someone please help me =D

  1. Joe Redington Sr. has been claimed "Father of the Iditarod" because he and Dorothy Page came up with the idea of running the annual race. Redington was born in Oklahoma, raised in Pennsylvania, and lived in Alaska for 52 years. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 82, and was planning on running in the 2000 Iditarod. Sounds like a fun project. Good luck!
