Does anyone know about the Great Sled Dog Race run between Nome and Nenana In Alaska?

In 1936? This race was run to get Diptheria Anti-Toxin to the town of Nome. The lead Sled Dog was Balto who was supposed to have been part wolf part dog. I also want to know if they still run this race over the 3 day period that the original trek was first run.
