Cross Breeds

I have a 2 year old greyhound, who we have had for just over a year. She was before that a racing dog.?

but she was not fast enough but she is so sensitive if i go up stairs she stands at the bottom whimpering until i go down stairs, if i go out in the car she whimpering as soon as i pull up. she follows me constantly i do love her she is a wonderful dog but she is like a baby so demanding for my attention. |Any ideas on how to cure her of her demands?

  1. This might sound counterintuitive, but try ignoring her when she's being demanding. Before I start I'm NOT an expert. I'm fairly sure this is right - but check with an experienced trainer. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx At the moment she knows she just has to whine and whimper to get your attention. If she is following you, shut the door behind you (and in front of her) so she can't get to you. She needs to get used to you not being around all the time. If she's whimpering, ignore her. Call her to you only when she is being quiet and relaxed. Above all, get a few books about training from your local library. Maybe also speak to the rescue you got her from for advice. Good luck.
  2. go to a pet store and get the book retired racing greyhounds for dummy's.maby give it more time to get used to the fact that its not going to be left,(it's only been a year) i used to leave a piece of clothing in reach of my lab greyhound cross so he could smell me when i was gone but he never got over being left.u could also try and get it another dog for its companion.
  3. she scared you leave her and not come back try resuring her and maby distract her with toys and bones ect goodluck
