Do you have an ex racing greyhound?
If you do, then you might be sympathetic towards this. Greyhound Action North East are holding a meeting next Tuesday 22nd May, to coincide with the biggest Greyhound Race of the year at Sunderland Dog Tack. We will be leafleting the public in an effort to raise their awareness of the mass slaughter and suffering of greyhounds in the industry. We are not extremists but we all feel passionately about pets being treated as just financial assets and disposed of, once they become a liablity. If you would like to help, then please post an answer or email me. http://www.greyhoundaction.org.uk/ This site will give you an idea as to the suffering these graceful creatures endure at the hands of some of their ruthless owners.

- havent you just asked this
- Good work, keep it up! Greyhounds are really nice dogs, we owned several ex-racers over the years, very nice temperaments :)
- We have a lurcher whom had been treated terribly and she gives us so much love and has a fantastic personality
- Yes I have he was wasn't fast enough. I don't agree with protests they can turn out nasty even if your intentions were good. Promote Adopt a Greyhound. They do make wonder full pets my kitten just luvs him.
- No But I have a Lucher/cross which I got from Battersea Dogs Home though. And she is a wonderful pet and as with Greyhounds they make excellent pets and you don't have to walk them for miles to exercise them.
- It's nice that you have good intentions. If I were you I'd work with the industry not against. Try promoting adoption. I've got a greyt bugle beek runner. He was to slow also. My family loves him to death and anywhere we go he instantly become the center of attention. Remember, not all ex-racers have the temperament to become house pets. Work hard to save as many of these greyt dogs as you can. Say a prayer for the rest. Good luck with your organization.
