Cross Breeds

to add to the rodeo topic?

to just add to the rodeo topic earlier discussed. for the one who answered and put pictures up up horses having marks from the flank straps and horses getting "kicked" by spurs which is called marking out, in any sport, there is a chance a horse will get hurt, but that doesnt mean we are doing it on purpose. getting the hair rubbed off and causing a sore or blister from a flank strap, well horses can also get those from the girth of the saddle, or the leg boots, or for instance a horse can trip and pull you down causing the reins to burn off the hair and leave a blister on there neck ( its happened to me ) but what people dont realize is going around the internet and searching cruelty websites/photos is going to of course show you the bad/injured horse, that doesnt mean the WHOLE entire world of rodeo or any other horse sport for that matter is cruel. again that would be like me going and saying horse jumpin or racing is cruel so i could be like some and accuse another persons sport for being cruel and go and look up quote on quote cruel pictures and post them. but i wont, because i know the basics/logistics of horse sports and i know they arent cruel i mean do i go and say that horse racing is cruel because they force the horse to run its hardest and take a chance at tripping and breaking a leg, or breaking its neck? no. do i go and say that horse jumping is cruel because people force a horse to jump a fence sometimes taller than them and trip while landing and injure or kill itself or hitting a fence and for some weird reason gets a pole lodged in its side (ive seen pics) no, so why do others go and accuse the sport of rodeo to be cruel? and to clear everything up, i started out jumping, went to rodeo and currently still rodeo and breed and raise race horses p.s.- i am done talking about this topic, and am done hearing about this topic. i just wanted to get my point/view out there. thank u not to be rude "Littlegirl" rodeo is not a small group..rodeo is a lot bigger than you think honey. try competing in the NFR against hundreds and hundreds. my main sport is barrel racing, therefore i am a memer of NBHA (national barrel horse assoc.) at the world champs, i competed agains 1200 people..thats not small. rodeo is a world wide sport that is growing rapidly

  1. I love the rodeo. I really do but this is really annoying me. People who think rodeo is cruel: PEOPLE ARENT GOING TO STOP LOVING RODEO. YOU CANT CHANGE HOW PEOPLE FEEL OVER THE DAMN INTERNET. and people who are defending: They cant change how we feel. We love rodeo and lets give it a rest. \ i love the rodeo and mean no disrespect to you, but seriously just drop it.
  2. Don't let the bunny-huggers bother you. They will never get rid of the sport of rodeo.
  3. I agree with you. People don't always understand everything they see. In every horse discipline there are people who do cruel things to the horses, but that doesn't mean we all do. And accidents do happen. I ride saddleseat and huntseat as well. But every one always tells that saddleseat is crule, the weighted shoes. They are ounces, people act like the shoes wieght a hundred pounds. And horse that wear the weighted shoes are taken extremly well care off. And don't people realize that a horse can hurt him self with a light weight regular shoe. People don't undertand things, or are miss lead to belive that everthing is bad.
  4. People do not know that horses are livestock. And livestock can get hurt just being in the pasture. So the pasture most be cruel. So lets out law pastures. Plus the real big reason to not outlaw Rodeos is this is the USA. I do not like rodeos at all. So if you ger rid of it. It will not bother me at all. Most people do not care if there are rodeos. Just a very small group. That think they own everybody. Trying to take every ones rights is going to back fire on them. Because when I was young you only need one bale of hay on your place. You did not have to even feed it to the livestock. Now they have if your horse is to fat they will take it away from you. Heard one of the rescue people say that the horse should have heat and air contioning. And be keep in the stall most of the time. So see what is happing. THE WORLD IS COMING TO A END!!!
  5. Hey there, Here in Australia we have the strongest voluntary controls on rodeo. All of the animals are vetted before during and after the even. If an animal is not coping with rodeo then it is taken off the available list for good. Only fully grown animals are used for the riding events, that is fully matured. We have a permit system that requires all gear used, including holding pend to be of a certain standard. Protective clothing/equipment for all competitors, that includes the animals too. There are a number of purpose built facilities that have been built just for rodeo and are now used by other disciplines as they are of such high standard. I had a teacher try to put rodeo down in a legal class, boy did I give her a lesson on what's what. As she didn't actually know what went on, now she dose. I also had it out with the snooty dressage and jumping crowd I was in, I can tell tou that they do not like having what their sports do to horses pointed out. I finally got my point across when one said my mare must be young as she had no injuries. I pointed out that she was 12 years and the their horse was only 4years. That by the time her horse was as old as mine it would have all of these problems, as it already had a number now. Was not populae that day. As mentioned above, only matured animals are allowed to be used inthe ridden events. Unlike racing, dressage, jumping and a lot of other disaplines where they start competition at a very early age. Here it is uncommon if a horse isn't started to saddle by the time they are 18 months 2 years. And we all know that most breeds don't mature until 5 to 8 years. When you look at injury rates, rodeo is one of the only sports that you can actually get a clear picture of what is happening, from the volentary controls. You will not find statistics on shin splints bowed tendons, respitary bleeding, fetlock damage, concussion laminitis, fractured ribs, torn ligiment, broken bones ring bone or my fav arthritis caused by the training and competition in other sports. I know I tried to find out and couldn't. And I was just looking for teh official competitions, not the stuff that happens during training at home. Feel better now. Thanks.
  6. Ya'll this is just like the pro and non-pro slaughter houses. People can talk (type) till your blue in the face (hands) and you won't change anyone. Those of us that support rodeo will fight to the death just like those that don't support it. Littlegirl-I really didn't get your answer. Kinda out there. But so you know, Rodeo is not small. We are a huge community. We need to agree to dis-agree and leave it at that.
  7. "Littlegirl" is on DRUGS!!! She is LOST!!!!! But I am with you it is just lost people making these statements!!
  8. well said...we could be petty and get some photos in horse racing wrecks, and there are plenty!...or in cross country, or in most any other sport involving horses and we won't even need to touch on the livestock part because slaughter is their only other option... And what goes on in the barns before the Arab shows... or used to ( I would hope) with ginger... so you folks out there don't point an accusing finger at rodeo....when you aren't educated... A big STAR!!!
  9. I have seen animals galled far worse than those rodeo pics from just improper cinching and saddle placement on just a simple trailride. I have seen cut marks far worse on horses than what was trying to be shown as spur marks, from horse fighting other horses. The list goes on and on. If you want to see one picture and say bronc, saddle and bull riding is abusive, thats fine. I just say your uneducated.
  10. LONG LIVE RODEO!!!! And it will. FOREVER!
  11. Rodeo supporter!!!! To those that think it is a "small group", lol. You have a lot to learn, here stems another Education thing, obviously.
  12. no matter wat anyone says on here i still put on my rigging on saturday night and watch my world spin and i love it so i dont really care wat people think its my way of life and its the only thing getting through losing my son so people that wanna keep complaining and keep going as pussy ass peta about the subject come to sw iowa and say it to my face! by the way for those of you that said its cruel because of the fact we force them to do that! look at greyhounds there kept in a little steel cage until the race there taken out there racing vest are put on they race and they go back in the cage if they get hurt they die end of story! trust me i used to work for a greyhound track! and by the way little girl your a fuckin idiot rodeo by far is not a little group in fact you hear more about rodeo than you do about english riding! and at the rodeo its all true cowboys out there we live on farms and ranches its our life! no offence to any english riders cuz i have nothing against english but rodeo is not a bunch of city people that keep there horses at some fancy bording ranch in little stalls and only comes to see them when its at our benifit! we see our horses everyday if one gets hurt then we hafta take care of it we dont have people to do it for us! so little girl you just need to grow the fuk up and leave the rodeo alone
