Help with my horse please ? :)?
i am selling my horse, and by tracing his bloodlines i have just realised he is directly descended from famous racing names such as War Admiral, Mill Reef and Northern Dancer to name a few. he is no longer in racing, has been fully retrained, and is being sold as a showjumper. will these bloodlines have any affect on the price though?

- They should. Those are some of the strongest bloodlines in racing!
- YES!!! bloodlines and personality are the number one factor in a GREAT horse.
- Is he a gelding? If he can't breed, his bloodlines don't really matter. Most thoroughbreds these days go back to Man O War, so it's not entirely a big deal. You could maybe get a little bit more money for him if you're selling to someone who is interested in bloodlines and the history. But for selling show horses, the thing that matters most is how well behaved it is, how talented in the show ring it is, how much retraining it has and things like that. It's pretty easy to find a well bred show horse... people don't buy show horses just for the breeding. If the breeding affects the price at all, it's not very much... especially if it's a gelding. If you had a mare, it might be a different story.
- OK, first with bloodlines like that, your horse should not be jumping. Weak ankles. Leg are not as strong. Be carefull, but he will probably break down.
- No,,,,,,, because 90 percent of them have that same blood , And what gives you the idea that is going to mater any way? they where RACE horses Not Jumpers P.S Look up T.BS reg for jumpers related to race horses You would be amazed how many say man of war or some great great great grand parent that has been dead for over 50 yrs and they think that matters ?? yea right I look at only the first set of parents then go from that How can you relate a racer to a Jumper PLUS YOUR ONLY USING THE SIRE Where is the dams name in all this I do not like people that do not think past of ""thinking they have the best because he was related to SO AND SO Allot comes from the MOM Why not bred to STEEPLE CHASE HORSE SIRE 'S?
- Oh yea! These bloodlines will definately have a big effect on the price! Bloodlines and personality contribute a lot in prices
- No it wont help maybe to a very few But his performance will Jumpers really sell on their talent , how old is he ? If he was really young I woud say a slight chance but older No Hope that helps You still can use it to impress some people But most trainers want to see him Jump ..
- My Quarter Horse mare traces back to Man O' War... so no, the bloodlines that far back don't mean much, if anything. It's kind of neat, but once you go back two generations, the bloodlines really don't have any affect on the horse.
