- 6 months at least
- At least 6 months. They are doing it earlier these days, but there are dangers they don't tell you about. Especially to small dogs. Here is some informative reading for you: http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongTermHealthEffectsOfSpayNeuterInDogs.pdf http://www.doglistener.co.uk/neutering/spaying_neutering.shtml
- That is a good consideration for your puppy. at least six months of age.
- I would ask my vet when you bring him in for his first checkup which you should do right away. Most vets say at around 6 months. Best done before first heat.
- Over 6m for the safest surgery.
- about 6 months is standard, but some states in the US are making it mandatory by the time the dog is 4 months old. so, check your state's (or country's) laws and regulations on this issue. this site had an article about the mandatory 4 month law in CA, but i think it varies from place to place. http://thepounce.com
- The best thing is to consult your vet. Keep in mind that the sooner you get it done the easier it is on them physically and mentally. Good luck!
- Don't consider it -- do it! I think the safest age is around six months. That's before most dogs become sexually mature but they're old enough to handle such a major operation. Kudos for wanting to fix your dog, whether its a boy or a girl. You'll get a healthier, more loving dog out of the deal, and you won't have to worry about accidental puppies, contributing to the overpopulation pandemonium...
- Ask your vet he can tell if his testicals are dropping and that is when you get it done. Usually from about 5 - 6 mos old depending on the dog and the vet
