My shih tzu is pregnant about how many puppies should i expect????

I have 2 year old shih tzu that is pregnant by our 1 year old male shih tzu. About how many puppies should i expect her to have? Because its to early to have an ultrasound done.

1. take him to vet but usually is up to 3-4
2. Given she's healthy and fed well I would say about 4. Be sure to get her to a vet for proper care!
3. average litter for shih-tzu is 3-5. Our vet recomended a X-Ray done on day 55 or 56 instead of an ultrasound. It is more reliable. You have to wait for the bones to calcify that is why so late in the pregancy. Our dog had a litter of 4 right in the middle. They are 5 weeks old and OMG they grow so fast and now they are becomming fun. Good Luck with your litter.
4. For a Shih Tzu - It's about 2-4 puppies. Have about two grand prepared at whelping time - They sometimes cannot whelp puppies on their own.
5. The mother determines the size of the litter. Normally she will produce the same size litter as her mother. So, do you know how many puppies were in the mother's litter (the litter your female came from)? This is a good guide.
6. my shi htzu had 7 puppies 2 weeks ago i didnt think they could have that many but she did they are all healthy .moms milk dried up so we are bottle feeding its very exhausting but they are just so adorable and mom did it all on her own we seen the whole birth and she didnt even have a hard time this being the first litter for her and shes not even 2yrs old yet good luck and make sure you are giving her vitamins everyday thats very important and towards the end give her lots of food with calcium i learned the hard way she had to get an injection of calcium because she was losing so much with having 7 puppies nursing
7. anywhere from 1-8 pups only x-rays will tell.
