Cross Breeds - Is there any cheaper shih tzu puppies the akc says they should range from 200

Is there any cheaper shih tzu puppies the akc says they should range from 200 - 500! websites say 1000+?

Im not expecting to get a cheap one i just want one for what it is worth! Thanks.

Don't expect to get a good quality puppy for less than $500. Any puppy cheaper than the going rate is likely from a puppy mill and extremely unhealthy. Either go to a rescue or be prepared to spend, becuase you either pay for good breeding or you pay more later at the vet's office.
the akc doesn't sell the pups, breeders do and they ask what they feel the dogs are worth. for cheaper why not go to a breed rescue and adopt on there for a companion. If looking for a breeding dog then look into the breeders and follow your gut cause high nor low price always mean quality.
the website dogs are all over priced because they ARE PUPPY MILL puppies. You don't want or need those puppies.
It depends on the specific breeder, the demand and the quality of the puppies. More importantly than price, do not buy from a pet store because they are expensive and usually come from puppy mills. Some breeders sell the show quality ones, especially the females, for higher prices, but will usually have some "pet quality" dogs for cheaper because some physical feature (such as color/coat pattern) disqualifies them as show dogs. Make sure the breeder really cares about the puppies and where they are going. She should ask you lots of questions and offer up information when asked about the lineage of the dogs. If not, they are probably just in it for the money and the dogs will most likely be poorly bred which means more health problems and high vet bills later down the line. A breeder should include the dogs as part of their family, offer puppy shots and a health guarantee.
AKC does ***NOT*** have ANYTHING to do w/breeding or selling dogs!!! They are JUST a REGISTRY! $200-$500 is ABSURD for ANY purebred animal! Wise UP!! You never heard,"You get what you PAY for"???? $200 will get a POS MUTT/MONGREL!!!! From a CROOK!
