My chihuahua puppies eat their poop?

my chihuahua puppies eat their poop but we give them plenty of food and water.. is it normal for them to eat their poop?

1. Do they cook it first?
2. Alot of dogs do that. They sell stuff at pet stores that you can give them in their food that gives the poop a less "appetizing" smell when it comes out. It works on some dogs. Others... you just have to scoop it before they do!!!
3. they eat it because they can smell it still has nutrients eat it. Its not bad for them and lots of dogs do it. But if you want to prevent it you can get some stuff from teh vet that you can feed them so that their poop will stink and they won't want to eat it.
4. Sprinkle poops with paprika or cyan pepper, this should put a stop to that. Depends on what kind of food you give them too, if it isn't nutrient Rich they may be trying to supplement that with eating the food twice. My fave dog food is Nutro or Iams, my baby only gets the best.
5. It's normal but BAD BAD BAD for them. You need to pick up their poop immediately............*shudder*
6. I'm having this same problem with a foster dog of mine. She just started doing it when her son (that i was also fostering) left to go to his forever home. My vet told me that it could be one of a few things. #1 - Mother dogs clean up the den when the puppies are young and the puppies can sometimes imitate the behavior #2 - the puppies think you aren't keeping their are clean enough so they are helping you out :) #3 - they can do it because you aren't feeding them a high-quality dog food so they may be missing some vitamins/minerals from their diet #4 - sometimes dogs just do it for no apparent reason
7. Some puppies/dogs do this , it isn't healthly for them. The best thing to do is frequently clean up after them. When I have a litter, I'm contantly cleaning up !
8. A lot of dogs do that. When it starts to eat its poo just say No in a Fern voice. In time it will give up hopefully.
9. we have a Dandie Dinmont that ate her poo, the vet told us to use ACCENT brand seasoning on her food, believe it or not it worked wonderful
