Cross Breeds

Is it possible that my two chihuahua puppies (brother and sister) born in the same litter, have different dads

Would the impregnation have to be done within a 24 hour period? This is amazing to me.

  1. It is possible. The female can breed with many males during heat.
  2. yes it is thats something youd have to ask the breeder is she allowed her dog to mate with two males
  3. we just found out that it is possible.... we just adopted a puppy and 2 of them looked alike black and chunky like a shar pei... and the other too look just like yellow labs... we asked the vet and he said that is it possible to have multiple fathers out of the same litter...
  4. Yes. When a female is in heat sometimes breeders let multiple males try and impregnant her. They have multiple eggs that can be fertilized at one time and the different males could fertilize different eggs.
  5. Yes, quite possible.
  6. It is possible. We had a female dog across the street from us that had a litter of puppies that had OBVIOUS different dads. (like different breeds!)
  7. yes it is possible. a dog can get pregnant over and over
  8. It's possible, but I would still not count on that for breeding purposes without testing them first.
  9. Yes there was even a human case in Germany a few years ago. Both fathers were american servicemen (fraternal twins born ) testing proved two separate fathers.
  10. Yes, animals especially dogs and cats ovulate at different times. This allows them to mate with different dogs and have puppies by different fathers.
  11. Yes it is possible as there are several eggs inside the female and if she is mated by 2 different dogs then it is very likely that both the males would be dads.
  12. Its possible.... Females mate with lots of males and so maybe the bro and sis were from different dads
  13. Yes. When a female ovulates, many eggs are released for fertilization. If she manages to breed with two (or more) males during that fertile time, it's possible for sperm from both to impregnate them.
