  1. DOG FOOD
  2. I would buy a premium food for her that is puppy food. Any dog nursing should be on puppy food so that she and the puppies can get the extra nutrients. By premium I mean look on the back of the package at the ingredient list. If it has CORN on the list don't buy it. Here is a small list of foods you should be able to buy at your local petsmart. Blue Buffalo Nutro Authority (If I recall correctly this does not have corn in it...you should check the label). I would mix canned puppy food into her dry food. Just a couple of tablespoons per feeding (about 1/4 of the can). The canned food will help her maintain her weight better since its higher in calories. It really doesnt matter what brand of canned food you use since it isnt her main staple (she should be eating more dry than wet). Just mix the wet food into the dry food really well. Make sure she is getting plenty of fluids. If you feel like she is not getting enough you can get one of those medicine syringers (the type without the needle) and force feed water to her. Only do this if she appears to not be drinking enough water. Use clear, plain pedialyte. I hope this helps. I also hope that you get Momma spayed as soon as the babies are weaned. Also remember that you should not rehome the puppies until they are at least 8 weeks of old and preferred is 10 to 12 weeks. Those weeks are extremely important since most puppies learn important things from their mother and siblings during that time that aides them in life. Good Luck
  3. Use a good quality puppyfood for Mom. You can put some of the milk replacer over her food or oil for extra calories. She will probably have diarrhea for a few days, all new Moms usually do. But she needs extra calories right now. Just find a good quality puppy food for her. Congratulations.
  4. She should be eating a high quality puppy food (this should have started 2 weeks prior to whelping). She should also see the vet to be certain there are no retained placentas etc.. and it would be a good time to get dewclaws done on the pups. You can also ask the vet what he recommends as far as food. She should be allowed/encouraged to eat as much as she wants.
