How old do the puppies have to be to be given a bath?

My puppies are almost 3 weeks old and they're all healthy and big. But I want to know if I can already give them a bath, and with what?

  1. I'd say wait until their compelety weened from their mother around 6 weeks ......with sergeants puppy shampoo.....
  2. i dont think it really matters just dont get anything in there eyes or ears
  3. They might be a little young yet, but if they are really dirty and you feel they must have a bath do not let them get chilled. Bring them in the bathroom, close the door, and run a heater. Do not bring them out until they are fully dry, it'll probably take at least an hour.
  4. 3 weeks is too young, besides mom should be keeping them plenty clean. At about 10 weeks with a gentle puppy formula shampoo should be OK, I know my groomers won't groom dogs under 12 weeks old.... Unless puppies are visibly very dirty, or very smelly they don't need to be bathed anyway.
  5. You can give it a bath, but you would want to put it in a small bowl (size of puppy or alittle bigger) with warm water. You can use normal dog shampoo but be really care full with the puppies, because their eyes are really fragile.
  6. I'm not sure at what age , but use a baby shampoo,no tears, and skin moisture (johnsons baby shampoo? )
  7. Wait until they are six weeks old. Right now their skin is really sensitive and you dont want to irritate it this soon. But you can take just a warm wet rag and wipe them off if its necessary. Puppy shampoo can still irritate them if you look at the back of the bottle it will tell you to wait until they are older.
  8. It is safe to give your pup a bath, just be sure to blow dry it til dry,or it may catch the sniffles. You can purchase a puppy shampoo at any Wal-Mart stores or other pet supply stores.
