Do maltese puppies lick a lot?

Mine is 7 months old and constantly licks me, my clothes, the windows in my car. Is this normal, if not, how can I stop it?

  1. yes, some dogs are just lickers, you can yell at pets, and it doesnt hurt them like it might hurt a human, just say no to him and make him stop when he is doing it.
  2. Some pups aare lickers. If you don't want that behavior redirect your puppy to something else like a chew toy. You may also want to work on a "leave it" command. Obedience classes are always a plus. Good luck!
  3. They have been known to - have a friend who has one. One of those behaviors that's really cute as a puppy but can become annoying. Can you remove the dog to a room or separated area (crate, X-pen) when your dog licks you? If you can, do it quickly so that the dog understands : "I lick my human friends, and then suddenly the game's over!" This is using the same do-not-bite-me rules that Ian Dunbar teaches for teething/biting puppies. Dogs learn by repetition, so be patient and keep taking the dog out of the room when he starts licking. Don't scold your dog, there's no need to. It's enough of a lesson to the dog to end the game.
