Where can I find inexpensive Maltese puppies?

  1. the shelter http://www.petfinder.com/
  2. A maltese puppy will generally be expensive..I would recommend going to petfinder.com. Atleast in my area, there are a ton of maltese rescues. I recently purchased my Maltese puppy...just keep in mind, a puppy is never really cheap. In the first month, we have spent well over $500 in addition to the cost of purchasing our puppy for food, toys, vet bills etc. Puppies are never cheap in the long run. Good luck :)
  3. you should go to your local animal shelter and adopt one. definitely DO NOT buy one from a pet store because they come from puppy mills. the people who own and work at those places make me sick.
  4. I would really recomend www.allclasifieds.com.au it has puppies from all over AUS it has everything. I got my pup (maltese x shitzu) from a breeder on that site. Give it a go Hope it helps!
  5. WALMART! You were talking about a stuffed maltese right? No dog is cheap.
  6. search online in forums, newspapers, except stores like petco. Make sure it is AKC certified annnnd Maltese can range from $200-1000.
  7. Maltese's generally are not a cheap dog. If it's a bargain now, you'll probably pay in vet bills later. Cheap Maltese's can have liver shunts, bad teeth, bad knees, extreme tear stain & many other issues. For any chance of a decent, affordable Maltese, you could try a rescue group or maybe look for a mix like a MaltiPoo or something. My Maltese is 2 yrs old and already has had significant vet bills. She has had to have her teeth cleaned already & will probably need yearly dentals for the rest of her life(normal for small breed dogs). She also has had some liver problems which were not expected. I would recommend to have at least $500 in the bank before purchase a Maltese or any dog for that fact. If you are desperate for a dog...many shelters have small breed dogs that need a loving home and usually come fixed, vaccinated & at a discount price. Good luck.
  8. Rescue a shelter dog. They'll appreciate you so much more & you'll be happy you did. Puppies do not need to be bought while there are so many that need homes inside shelters. I'd recommend rescuing from a kill-shelter because you could save a dog from death. However, if you think that you could not pay for the expenses of a dog I'd recommend not getting one. I must have spent well over $50,000.00 in the past five years getting my dogs the care they needed. <3~
  9. The best prices you can find will be in the local new paper or through word of mouth or a local club. The .coms have high priced dogs because of the commissions charged. Many of the same dogs are sold for double by brokers than the breeder will sell you the dog for if you dealt with them directly. Be patient, and be willing to do some running around, and walking away. Often those who are willing to sell for less are selling less desirable dogs with anything from health probelms to dogs which are not the breed they are sold as, or mixed with only some of the breed you are looking for. Again, be patient, it's pretty much the key along with being smart and researching to know when you are getting what you want. Many times the last puppy in the litter will go for less, and be no less quality than it's siblings because it's not easy to predict the characteristics of a mature dog as a puppy. Do some dealing, ask if they would be willing to trade something of value for the dog, and if they would they would probably be willing to take a substantially lesser amount of money for it too. Now it's never going to be easy to get such a beautiful desirable puppy cheap unless you just have a turn of excellent luck, but you can be smart and get a much better deal. Remember though, sometimes a great deal isn't such a great deal and breeders know a lot more about these dogs than you probably do so you could outsmart yourself and get screwed easily if you're not very careful.
