- Call your mentor.
- Does your vet have a website? That's the only person you should be asking "silly questions" to. Call your vet. Call your vet. Call your vet, call your vet, call your veeeeeeeeet... Can we make a song with that as the chorus? How many times do people on here have to say this? Where was your vet in this whole pregnancy process? Shouldn't they be able to answer any question you have in full detail? Sheesh. Call your vet and ask.
- The dog and pups should have been taken to the vet by now for a post -partum check-up.Toy breeds in particular are susceptible to eclampsia.Feed the dog puppy food and give her some yogurt or cottage cheese every day.If she starts to act strangely ( pacing, walking stiffly, panting, etc.) rush her to the vet,as these are the symptoms of eclampsia.
- If you are feeding her a good quality Food for Lactating Dams & Puppies there shouldn't be any need to add calcium as the food will contain all the nutriments, vitamins and supplements she needs to feed her puppies. She will need 5 meals a day while she is nursing her puppies and make sure she has access to water day and night. This helps with her milk production. Good luck with your litter.
