What are maltese puppies/dogs like? Do they get on with cats?

1. I guess that depends on the particular maltese. I doubt they all act exactly the same.
2. umm.. well i have a maltese puppy (i had one before too) the puppy i have right now (sammy) will bark and growl but after a little while he gets used to it same with dogs too. But my other maltese(gracie) didn't so well. I guess it depends.. good luck! I LOVE maltese's sweetest and cutest dogs ever!
3. Try doing some research. If you're considering getting a maltese, you're going to have to do A LOT of research (any kind of dog requires a lot of research). Google "Maltese" and read anything and everything you can get your hands on. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to check out www.petfinder.com to see what Maltese dogs are available in your area.
4. put them together as its a puppy it will learn to get on cat will swipe first to say hey leave me alone and then they will get on great
5. I use to have a maltese and she was the sweeties smartest little dog that I have ever had. She got her CD title in obediecne and she got along with my cat.
6. It is how you socialize your pup. If you introduce the pup to a cat and teach him/her to be nice then they will get along. Sometimes cats just know that the pup is young and or small, and will teach the new pup or dog what happens when they be "mean" to a cat. 7. I own a 2 Maltese/Shih Tzu mix dogs and they get along fine with the cats, do they chase after the cat, when they are in a playful mood you bet, does the cat tease the dogs at times, if your bringing the puppy in when it is just that still a puppy it will grow up with the cat, the cat may hide for a while but eventually the cat will accept that this new puppy is part of the family.
