Do Maltese puppies noses turn black as they get older?

Looking to adopt a maltese puppy but thier noses are blotchy pink and black. My maltese is an adult that we got from a rescue, so I didn't know if the puppies are born with pink noses and turn as they get older, or if it is a "defect" in the dogs. Thanks!

1. As far as AKC standards go, their noses should be black. I am not sure what color they are when born though.
2. yes. all puppies to my knowledge are born with pink noses and they do turn black as they get older.
3. some of them and It depends on the mom and dad and if they had black noses!
4. A real maltese will have a black nose and the pads on thier paws should turn black also. Sometimes they are pink but they will turn black. I have three maltese and they all have black points.
5. Yes most puppies are born with pink noses and the pigmentation comes in later. With one of my dogs his nose didn't turn completely black until he was about 9mths old.
