What do you feed puppies that are about 3 weeks old and have no mother to feed them?
I have 5 puppies and their mother has ran away and I'm worried that they might die if not taken care of properly.

- go to wal-mart or petsmart and buy puppy formula.
- you are going to have to get some kind of puppy formula. I would consult with a vet to figure out what kind of formula would work best for your breed of dog. Good luck.
- Home recipe+ how to support in link below.. I did animal rescue work for all types of animals while on the farm, some things to remember is burping is important. Use boiled water! There systems can shut down quick so the sooner any of these activities the better. Ask for help you may have someone in your neighborhood willing to come over for feedings. Wipe them down with a damped rag as if mother was licking them.. You may have to do this to there bottom 2 to stimulate bowel movment.
- They make a lot of formulas, but I'd ask a vet which he/she would reccomend. This can be done easily and cost-free by phone. Good luck with the puppies.
- You can feed them puppy formula. If they can figure out how to lap it up from a bowl that would be great, otherwise you'll need to bottle feed them, but that can be dangerous if not done properly, the puppies can choke or aspirate the formual causing pneumonia. Best to talk to a vet about it and have someone there show you.
- you can get puppy formula at the vet. or pet store to feed puppies. be sure to get a nursing bottle that has the right size nipple for the puppies. they will need to eat every 3-4hrs. and don't over feed them. call the vet. and ask how much they should have at a feeding. good luck
- You take them to a vet or animal shelter RIGHT NOW or they will die No one on here can give you the help you need. You need a pro Check http://www.petfinder.com to search by zip code and get them to a shelter or the nearest vet office
- What breed of dog are they Victor??? You will have to bottle feed the pups for about another week every 3 hours around the clock! Once they are about 4 weeks old you can start to introduce puppy mush to them. It is very easy to make Puppy mush: 3 cups good quality puppy food crushed up in a blender add warm water just enough to make a runny oatmeal like mush. Pour this into pie pans. Let the pups lap this up ok. Also have a shallow bowl of puppy replacement formula mixed 1/2 & 1/2 with water for them to drink. You can feed them this 4 times a day. You will have to watch them while eating and have a towel ready to clean them up after they eat. Let them drink as much as they want too. after they have all eaten pick up the dishes and then clean the pups up! Mom usually does this. At 5 weeks old soak the puppy food in warm water until very soft. Break it up with a fork. Feed them this 4 times a day along with water. Get some drip water bottles and allow the pups to drink when every they want too. No need for pupy milk any longer. 6weeks old soak food and feed the pups 4 times a day. Have 2 water bottles for the pups. clean the pups up ok. 7 weeks old soak 1/2 the puppy food add regular puppy dry food into the wet food. Water all the time. 8 weeks old dry puppy food & water. 9 weeks odl rehome the pups their ready for their new homes! Pat yourself on the back for a job very well done! Hope this helps! Right now you should keep the pups warm and safe and well fed. Get them vet checked for worms and have your vet teach you how to give the pups their wormer. Please do not get any over the counter wormers. They dont work and they do make the pups very sick and some can even kill the pups. Your vet is the very best person to guide you in this matter ok. ADD: My e-mail is open if you need more help ok
- If they r eating food already u can feed them weetbix and/or cooked oats and puppy food mixed together u can also buy supercoat puppy dry food and soak it in hot water till its soft and mushy and feed them that u can also mix it with weetbix and/or cooked oats. These are great and healthy ways and they will love it and it's also the cheapest way just feeding them on canned puppy food is to expensive and u will never afford it as they eat so often and so much. They will also need puppy milk after each feed... Maybe try adding a calcium supplement to there food-(See ur vet about that) If they arn't eating yet u will need to see ur vet to get the best info u need. But keep introducing and offering the puppy food every day....If their not eating they will be any day now... Good luck:)
- Well I know this for a fact you have to get a very small bottle fill it with milk and feed them by hand.
- go to Petco and by puppy chow
- You can get puppy formula from walmart or any pet store. There is also puppy vitamins that you can give them. If they wont feed out of a bottle you can use a small syringe (like the kind you give a child medicine with). Just be really careful they can choke. I had the same thing happen to me. Good Luck.
- Here is an article on raising orphans. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1651&articleid=863 At three weeks they are ready to start eating small amounts of food and lapping liquids but will still need to be bottle fed as well. good luck
