Is it recommendable to get two puppies (a german shepherd and a golden retriever) at the same time?
I really want to get two puppies of those breeds but i'm afraid it's going to be too much work.

- i got my two dogs at the same time when htey were 2 months old. no problem, they stayed away from each other because they were like strangers to each other, but now they play all the time. they havent fought and theyre really playful.
- good luck with that. we just got a puggle and it always has to go out. it always needs attention. cleaning after him. its going to be hard work. i would advise you get one then when that one gets older get the other one
- They could have fun growing up together. The only problem is that you'll have twice the work with training and housebreaking.
- yes, go for it, obviously you have twice the feeding, training etc but iv always found getting two pups the same age really works. they play together and its great fun to watch, they keep each other occupied. if i was starting over i would defiantly get two instead of one. its best to get them both neutered at 6months to ensure that playing doesn't turn into fighting.
- I never recomend that a person get 2 at the same time. Potty traing one is hard enough but 2 can be a real challenage for someone. I feel it is always better to get one pup than in a few months get the other. They still gow up together and the older one can teach the pup many things. If your not able to be home all day with your pups and potty train them then 1 at a time is best.
- It depends on how old they are and where they grew up and their personality.
- If you get them together, they will be much better socialized, less aggressive towards other dogs, and they'll get along great. If you get a puppy later, once one of them is already the king of the house, you can have jealousy issues. So, it's better for them to get them at the same time-dogs are social animals. That being said, can you deal with two energetic puppies at the same time? They'll run around, they'll need to be potty trained, vaccinated at the same time, and so on. If you have somebody who can help you (a family member or a roommate), it's doable, but it would be very difficult to do it by yourself.
- one dog is work, and two dogs is double. however there are so many advantages to it. You will prolly have to get up in the middle of the night to put them outside, so you can put them both out at once instead of doing the same process with the second dog in a few months. Secondly, when you have one dog and then get anouther, the first will be jealous of the second. it gets rid of that problem. Also, they will play with each other. it is very tiring to play with a puppy to tire them out so they can do it for each other. Good luck
- It is not recommended - possible, but not recommended. There is a LOT of individual attention/time needed to train a puppy properly. Toilet training is easy - if you get a well-reared pup and YOU pay proper attention it should be done in 24 hours. But there is MUCH more involved in raising a puppy than just toilet training. And even toilet training is close to requiring one trainer per pup. During our buying days our pups were obtained at least 6 months apart. If you have the facilities to be a 2-dog household the recommendation is that they be obtained half a lifetime apart, and of opposite sexes (so that there is no contest as to which of them is alpha of that sex). Not only does it give you time to concentrate on each of them when they most need your attention, it has the advantage that (after the first pup) each new pup has an established adult pooch to learn from (herding dogs in particular learn very quickly that way), but most of all it means that you don't get 2 deaths at about the same time, and when the old one does need to be put down you have a loving pooch there willing & able to act as a fur therapist during your period of grief.
