Is there anyone in Arkansas who are selling German Shepherd puppies semi cheap?
Nothing over two hundred dollars... I'm buying a puppy for my little sister as a birthday gift because she just lost her dog and really wants a German Shepherd.

- You get what you pay for
- Best bet is to check with a vet. Also make sure you see both parents of the puppy before getting it. Watch out for "Puppy Mills"!
- Plaease don't so it this way - you could very well end up with a very badly bred dog that turns out to be a heartbreak - either it could have a bad temperament or bad hips- or both and other things. Why not help her adopt one of the hundreds and hundreds of lovely GSD's in rescue - so many that they don't have foster space? You would know what you were getting with an adult, and you both could be heroes - for the price you can afford. Just look up GSD rescue, and you will find them on Petfinder.com as well.
- Go to Petfinder and PetHarbor and search for puppies and young dogs at shelters and rescues in your area. Take your sister along so she can pick out the one she likes best. http://www.petfinder.org/ http://www.petharbor.com/ I have also included the German Shepherd Club in Little Rock so you can check with their rescue. http://gsdc-of-lr.netfirms.com/
- Most classified sections have them and sometimes (but not often), one can find a young GSD from a shelter. Most rescues sell their wards for around $150.00. But if you get one from the paper or a shelter (since ancestry is not known), the risk of getting a dog that costs a lot for veterinary bills over the years is much higher. They suffer from both AKC disease and popularity disease - been in the top ten in popularity (currently #3) for around 50 years - meaning a lot of litters are bred from average or worse dogs and AKC breeders stopped following the standard in the 60s to the point that they don't even look like GSDs from Europe, etc (one can tell from a quick glance).
