What does flashy mean when describing boxer puppies?
I have looked at several and I keep seeing descriptions with "flashy" brindle for example.

- To have flash means they have a white chest and typically white paws and nose or part or the face.
- "Flashy" is a show dog term that means the dog has a lot of attractive white markings in contrast with the darker background color. In Boxers, judges are more likely to "put up"(award points to)a flashy dog than a plain dog, although in this breed, you can have TOO much white. Judges usually like a a dog with a white blaze, white collar, white socks or stockings and a white chest. Such a dog is more likely to be noticed than one that has very little white. White markings, by the way, are sometimes referred to as "chrome"!
- Just FYI - someone asked this quetsion about 15 minutes ago. The search box is a WONDERFUL feature when its working, and so is scrolling through previous answers. Brindle is striped. Generally a fawn or red background with black or brown stripes. Flashy refers to the amount of white on the body (including face, chest, legs). It cannot exceed 1/3 of the body's colour or it is outside of the breed standard. http://members.aol.com/viladabxrs/colormark.html http://www.worldwideboxer.com/COLOUR.html http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28428 Flashy Brindle: http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/dogs/c3060663-c051.aspx Finding a boxer: http://www.worldwideboxer.com/PUPPIES.html (A MUST READ!!!!) Boxers can be loaded with health problems if not bought from a responsible breeder - be sure to take the time to do your homework and ONLY buy from someone who is trying to improve the breed. Dogs should NEVER be bred solely because they are AKC, from Champion Lines, great pets, or anything other than to try and create the perfect dog. Good luck to you!
- "Flashy" refers to nice even markings that are attractive in the show ring.
