Would a swimming pool make a good whelping box for boxer puppies?
Its seems that it would be convenient to put the puppies in a box and then go outside and rinse the pool with a hose and then put the puppies back in the pool. Has anyone else tried this? Any other suggestions.

- Sure is! Plastic kiddie pools make wonderful whelping boxes!
- no u need an enclosed area big enough so the dog can stretch out. they ususally want o be in a dark far away place in ur house so that nobody can bother it. A man-made wooden enclosure is the best with comfy blankets or quilts for the dog.
- I wouldn't suggest it because what if it rains? The dogs will either drown or could become seriously sick from hypothermia. I would suggest an empty shed but make sure there aren't any nails or other small things to hurt them. Even an empty door way or closet for them. Good luck!!
- The thing that would concern me in using a pool rather than a whelping box, is that you can't put up the rails that prevent the mom from accidentally squashing a puppy behind her and killing it. I think that rail has saved many a tiny life and I wouldn't be without it when I was breeding.
- our friends dog had boxer puppies and put them in the pool the mom really liked that system and it was enough room for the puppies to play!
