- yes
- I do not have English Bulldogs, but with all of the breeds that I train and show their heads grow slowly... My pup's heads will grow ontop so that they have a severe over bite, and then their jaw will grow on the bottom so that they have a severe underbite (not attractive on an Aussie Shepherd). Once they are done growing they will level out. For your dog, once he is done growing he should have an underbite. Just wait a while and see if his head starts changing. Puppies have a lot of growing to do! Good luck with him!
- An over or under bite is not regarded a great breeding trait in almost all breeds and in Bull dogs it is excepted because of its ancestory. When it grips prey due to the shape of its jaw it will not release even if it is unconcious. The folds stopped the blood running down the dogs face into its eyes. Bit like a funnel. Ideally the boxy nature of the breeds head is a quaility they breed into it. It can cause breathing , eatting and teeth problems if it is too pronounced. Ideally a nice firm flat face with as little over bite as possible is ideal for a mordern pet. As they get older the bones and jaw will set into the adult shape around a year and you will see what they have at this point. Hope this helps.
- Typicall you will start to see changes at 6 months. My oldest went thru an "ugly" stage where her jaw was in the middle of growing and looked akward. She ended up developing a visible underbite but grew out of it within 2 months. She now just has the bulldog pout which is what you want.
- You could start seeing it anytime now. It all depends on the dog whether the teeth will stick out or not though. I have 3 adults, one has both of her teeth out almost all the time, one has usually just 1 tooth out and the other barely ever shows her teeth. The head can grow until the dog is 2-3 years old so by that time you would see what type of underbite your dog will have.
