What brand of dog food is best for an English Bulldog?

I am getting an English Bulldog puppy soon and would like it to have a healthy diet. They are prone to be overweight as I know. I use to have a female bullie that I fed Iams too but she became overweight even when I fed her the low calorie Iams. Can you please help? Thanks!

  1. Pedigree
  2. Red meat.
  3. I did a lot of research on dog food before I got my Boxers. I found that the best and most nutritious was Purina ONE. Dogs are like people though, in that some enjoy eating more than others. I have 2 Boxers at this time, and the female definitely enjoys her food more than my male does. The only thing that she does not like to eat is shrimp.
  4. Look into Royal Canin dog food, they make breed specific foods. I know they do have one for English Bulldogs. They have put a great deal of time into researching their food to ensure the best tasting, top quality ingredients and the right amount of Viatims each breeds needs. I checked all the levels are different and so are the ingredients depending on the different breeds needs. They do not test on laboratory animals like Iams they did taste test with pet volunteers who stayed at home. Go to Royal Canin USA they have a VERY detailed website, and have a section and video for each breed, Both of my dogs are on Royal Canin and they love it, not to mention look great and have more energy. My Labrador is on Royal Canin Labrador 30. Labs are known for gaining weight, but their food is formulated for that. He has lost a lot of flab and put on a lot of lean muscle. I agree with Royal Canin's view that each breed needs different things and that is how they made their food.
  5. Nutro Lamb and Rice , Timberwolf , Solid Gold or Raw food (B.A.R.F).You should make sure that there is not to much protein in the food and that the Calzium and Phosphor are the same (almost ). Also not to much wheat cause it can cost Allergies . One of the most important things is (For bulldog puppys )don't feed her to long puppy food !There is to much protein in it and your bulldog puppy grows to fast .Later they can get problems with their Bones (cause gets to earlie to heavy ) For more advices visit the side of the BCA (http://www.thebca.org/ ) I personally always feeded Nutro ,even it is very expensive (over here in Germany 30 lbs (15 kg ) around $ 70( 54 €) but now i changed into RAW Feeding (B.A.R.F-Diet )-here is also a link in english http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm Have a Bully-good-day & excuse my lausy english (i am from Germany ) BTW you made a good choice for a Dog ..i just love Bulldogs cause the have a real face :)
