How are English Bulldog puppies born? Is it by c-section?

Hi guys, I was thinking of breeding my English Bulldog female but I was reading this site with life stages English Bulldog puppies pictures http://www.english-bulldog-puppies-for-sale.com/lifestages.htm & http://www.english-bulldog-puppies-for-sale.com/bdogpics.htm & I noticed it starts of with c-section!! I have heard this before but I wasn't sure if they all really need to have one??

  1. Actually, they normally have to have artificial insemination AND a c-section. Thats why those dogs are so expensive..Because it costs thosands and thousands and thousands of dollars to breed them. Get your dog fixed, it isn't worth the hassel.
  2. Did the breeder you got your dog from not inform you of this very commonly known fact? Spay your dog. Please.
  3. I don't think they always need one, but I have heard it is common. For a breed that has known complications like that I would talk to a breeder and your vet before you decide to do it.
  4. Yes. Yes they do. Because of the bull dog's physical build it is too dangerous to allow the mum to attempt to give natural birth. To be honest if this is something you DIDN'T know - you are a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way away from thinking about breeding your bullie.
  5. usually. plus they often need artificial insemination to even get pregnant. this is a breed that probably only exists because of human interferance. me personally i wouldn't risk my dog's health in this way to produce a litter. in order to responsibly breed your female should be shown and prove to be beyond breed standard. she should be OFA registered good or excellent on hips and elbows (good luck getting this from a bulldog too) she should be tested for all known bulldog genetic health problems (there are tons) and test negative on all of them. she should be temperment tested as well. the male should be of the same high quality as the female. then you will need to fork out the money for the insemination and make sure you have the money for a c-section, it's highly highly likely. then once the pups are born you must be prepared for every complication known to man. the pups should be vet checked, dewormed, vaccinated and microchipped before finding new homes. this is why these dogs cost so much and a responsible breeder will still loose tons of money on one bulldog litter. not to mention the health risks you put the female through. they have enough medical problems without adding pregnancy to the list. your best to enjoy your dog. spay her and love her for the pet she is. breeding her is just too dangerous for most dogs in general, especially one so prone to medical problems from the very start.
  6. yes. please do not breed your female this is a very difficult breed to well breed. they have more than a few health problems and complications that can happen. this is way you pay so much when you buy a puppy some not only have to be born by c- section( which is basically all) but many have to be artifically insemnated with a syringe by a vet. this is not something you should do with just researching on the internet. if you are dead set on breeding her pair up with a a good stud research line that go back at least 20 years. second make sure to check all papers you have on her some breeders make it so that in your contract or sales agreement you do not breed them. if you do not have this ask the breeder if they know a stud and will help you breed her. But this is not to be consider lightly. Remember the process and procedures you are going to be putting a member of the family throughand the cost of it all. and always expect the unexpected.
  7. Yes. Get your dog spayed and Fallon (pugs Not drugs) said it right the puppy's also have a high death rate. Just get her spayed It's not worth the risk of loosing your dog or the whole litter of puppy's. Not to mention the cost hope you own a bank because it's not cheep to breed these dogs..
  8. i wouldnt breed her i think its cruel to put her through that just to have a couple babies and yes they do have to have a c-section because the heads of the puppies are too big to fit out of her vagina
  9. a lot of times it is by c-section because the puppies heads are to big for the passage
