Why are Sea Horses not usually suitable for putting in a marine community tank?
Hold on i have more questions :) thank you for your time :)

- IDK but they are way cool, those and jelly fish are cool to watch.
- Most seahorses aren't sold, and the dwarf seahorse that is sold, is to small to be with small/medium/large fish that might eat them. As well as being a small species of seahorses, they primarily eat hatched brine shrimp, and with any larger fish in the same tank, the seahorses would have to compete for food. ("'\(o.o)/"')
- Seahorses are extremely hard to take care of so it would be too difficult if you had them along with other marine fish which are hard to take care of as well
- they are very fragile and other fish may bother it. also, they need special water contidions
- Seahorses are not good for community tanks because they are VERY slow swimmers, need VERY high oxygen levels, and the water MUST be pristeen. I have always wanted to keep them, unfortunately neither my 8 gallon nor my 10 gallon reef tank could support even one.
- Seahorses are particularly slow swimmers, and most other fish would steal their food, so they would slowly starve to death. That's not to say that there aren't a few fish that could be kept with them, but very few are really suitable as tankmates, plus the owner would have to target feed the seahorses to make sure that they are getting their share.
- The girl at Sealife centre, where they breed the seahorses, said they are very diff. to keep, even on their own in a tank, as they need feeding live food every 4 hours! M : )
- Sea horses are slow swimmers, so the other fish will out-compete them for food (wild-caught sea horses will require a live food source). They are also poor swimmers, so they have trouble hitching in strong currents.
- I agree with Copperhead here. Seahorses are slow swimmers and will actually watch food float by them more than once before they decide to eat it. They can be community fish depending on the fish. If you still house damsels, seahorses will have problems in the tank. If you use a turkey baster to spot feed, they are possiable while feeding the rest of the tank elsewhere. Also, most seahorses require different water params than some other fish. I would suggest checking domestic vs. wild. Stay away from wild seahorse or caught in the wild.
