How much does it cost to keep a miniature horse?

i am considering buying a miniature horse. could someone please tell me how much (roughly) per year it costs? i live in australia so it can get dry i am looking for basic prices of feed and care per year

1. Initial a mini can cost $1500 to $3500 depending on pedigree. If you plan to show its worth the price. If you are looking for a pet you're wasting your $. Suggest you find a local club and talk to them. Most breeders are GREAT folks who will help you every way possible. Good Luck. They require a LOT of care and attention. As to diet, check w/ a local club.
2. I have a little gelding, I paid $Au 200, he gets a little bit of hay a day, were in a drought and there's not a lot of grass, I trim his feet myself, you still have the same bills as a big horse, feet, drenching, dentist etc. the bonus of drenching is the tube lasts you 3 drenches, With his rugs, food, drenches etc it will cost me about $Au 600 a year, that's not including the cost of the pony.
