backing miniature horses?
I've always wondered how people back a miniature horse? How do they do it? (im not planning on backing one...just want to know how they do it)

- Miniatures are totally unsuitable for riding, though they can be trained to pull light traps. This would be done in the same way as a bigger driving horse, only weights would be scaled down. They would only be suitable for breast harness due to the tiny neck length!
- same as a big one. put pressure on the halter, pulling back gently or while doing that, push on their chest saying back
- well it depends on what you are asking...are you saying how do they break them to a saddle, or just back up? if its breaking them to saddle, then they really shouldn't. minis are NOT riding horses. if its how to back up, then you do it the same as if you were training a big horse to do it...lol
- Miniature horses are not built correctly to be ridden. They don't have proper muscle and bone structure to carry the weight of a rider. They can pull carts and show in other events but leave the riding out! You may be referring to ponies, which are not the same breed and type as the miniature horse. They have stronger legs and backs and a better build for carrying riders, and can be trained by lightweight adults. A pony that is too small for a lightweight adult to ride may be trained by a child rider, with guidance and training. You just do the same things you would do when training a full size horse.
