Does streight mean purebred in Arabian horses. Like Straight Egyptian?
Public Comments
- Yes, it means purebred. The Straight Egyptian Arabians are bred from exclusively Egyptian Arabian lines, no other lines mixed in.
- Straight Egyptian Arabian means it is only from the Egyptian stock. 95% straight egyptian means it is mostly that strain. Usually, these horses have the most stereotypical arab features such as a dish nose, curved in ears, the typical build, etc. You can have a purebred arabian that is not a straight egyptian- it just has different bloodlines.
- yes, it is only Egyptian.
- Asil - of the blood need I say more
- Hi, in the Arabian breed there are different "strains" or "lines". Egyptian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, and Crabbet. So therefore if someone refers to a purebred Arabian as being "straight" Egyptian that means it has only Egyptian bloodlines etc.....
- There are a number of subsets of Arabians that are registered in the USA and Europe as Arabians, like the Shagya or Crabbet or Polish varieties. Straight, in this sense, means desert type Arabian, without having undergone the changes, like breeding for size, which happened in Europe. All the above Arabians would be considered "purebred", but not necessarily "straight".
- It means that they aren't Gay...just kidding, just kidding, don't hiss at me....I couldn't resist ..Gina C. had the best answer and was correct and explained it to perfection.
- Yes it means purebred. Like the Egyptian Arabs.

- yes.like gina mentioned arabs have diffrent bloodlines to them.Egyptian,Polish,Russian,Crabbet, when they say straight polish they mean the bloodlines are pure polish only. Same goes for the others. My mare has mixed blood where she has russian & crabbet
- Like others have any other breeding or type of that breed
- in arabian breeding S E means straight eqyptian which means all the lines are egyptian..there is another category which is egyptian related which is a cross with other blood [english spanish polish russian french domestic usa Kellogg..l could go on] all arabians are purebred unless they are crossed with another non arab breed then they are part bred..all arabians are registered with various stud books which is governed by WAHO [world arabian horse organization] all are DNA and blood typed and both parents must be recognized [DNA etc]to be eligible for registration..there are a few who are not registered but most are..the rules and regs are very strict
